Sam's Club is selling Chick-fil-A-style waffles and chicken fillets for a fraction of the price

SAM’S Club is selling frozen southern-style chicken fillets and waffles that shoppers say tastes just like Chick-fil-A.

Happy customers have gone mad for the new chicken products, which can be cooked at home and cost a fraction of the price of the fast food chain.

The warehouse store only sells items in bulk and you can buy a box of ten fillets for $15.98 (£12.96).

This works out at $1.59 ($1.29) a chicken breast, whereas a sandwich at Chick-fil-A costs $3.95 (£3.20) – a saving of $2 (£1.62) per helping.

Although it’s worth noting that you don’t get a bun or dressing with the Sam’s Club version, with the packet warning that it doesn’t come with pickles.

The waffles come in a 4lb bag and cost $4.89 (£3.96) while a large portion from Chick-fil-A will set you back $2.25 (£1.86) for 113g – so you’re getting more than 10 times the food at Sam’s.

Satisfied shoppers have taken to social media praise Sam's Club and the fact that this option is available when Chick-fil-A is shut on Sundays.

One person said: "If you go to Sams Club, these are legit copies of ChickFila."

Another added: "The Chick-fil-A knock off from Sam's Club is lit."

They were also reported on by mum and TODAY journalist Terri Peters whose children had been begging her to buy the Sam's Club snacks.

She was impressed by the southern range but noted how they lacked the same greasiness as the authentic version.

Terri said: "Everything was simple to prepare, tasted great and cost between $15 and $5."

In response to her article, Chase Ketron, a senior merchant at Sam’s Club, said: “Our members have responded to these new items even better than we expected and they’re flying off the shelves."

But despite being cheaper, the Sam's Club fillets contain more calories (470) than the Chick-fil-A version (440 calories).

Whereas one cup of the Sam's Club waffles contains 160 calories, versus the 360 you'll find in a medium size version at Chick-fil-A.

The new waffles and fillets follow on from the success of Sam Club’s southern-style chicken bites that came out last year and were likened to Chick-fil-A’s nuggets.

If you still want more chicken, Wendy’s is now doing a spicy bacon jalapeño chicken burger.

While McDonald’s now does delivery in Chicago and Indiana.

And it's the end of an era at Taco Bell as the Mexican fast food chain ditches nine popular menu items.
