Royal Fans Are Begging Prince Harry to Return to His Royal Duties
03/20/2020
This is a very strange time we are in. Amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, the lives of many people across the globe have come to a drastic halt. Like the majority of the world, the British royal family has responded to the pandemic by canceling numerous events and appearances and by practicing social distancing and self-isolation.
The coronavirus outbreak comes on the heels of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s final royal engagements in the U.K. In January 2020, the duo announced that they would be stepping down as senior working members of the British royal family. The prince and the duchess are currently on Vancouver Island in Canada practicing self-isolation with their young son, Archie.
With Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip self-quarantining at Windsor Castle due to their advanced age, royal fans are urging Prince Harry to return to his royal duties, at least for a while.
This is how the British royal family is handling the coronavirus pandemic
At present, all royal events have even been canceled or postponed. Unfortunately, that has included Princess Beatrice’s wedding reception at Buckingham Palace which was scheduled for May.
“In consultation with the Medical Household and Government, a number of public events with large numbers of people due to have been attended by The Queen, and other Members of the Royal Family, in the coming months will be cancelled or postponed,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement.
In addition to the queen and Prince Philip in self-isolation, Prince William and Katherine, Duchess of Cambridge are currently homeschooling their young children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have also responded to the coronavirus pandemic
The Sussexes are also adhering to self-quarantining and social distancing. In their first public address of the pandemic, the duo shared a message of hope on their Instagram page. It read,
This moment is as true a testament there is to the human spirit. These are uncertain times. And now, more than ever, we need each other. We need each other for truth, for support and to feel less alone during a time that can honestly feel quite scary. These are uncertain times. And now, more than ever, we need each other. We need each other for truth, for support, and to feel less alone during a time that can honestly feel quite scary.
The prince has also canceled the 2020 Invictus Games. Now, royal fans are urging Prince Harry to return to the royal fold.
Prince Harry is being urged to return to his royal duties
Ahead of sharing their own personal message regarding the pandemic, the Sussexes’ shared Queen Elizabeth’s message about coronavirus. Now, royal fans are asking him to return home.
One fan wrote, “@sussexroyal I certainly hope you are checking in on your father who is in the highest risk group.” Another said, “Is Harry and Meghan still part of the people of UK….lol just asking after they have left their family members….double standards.” A third fan said, “Why are you posting this? You’re not a member of the royal family anymore.” Another person tweeted, “#PrinceHarry has a duty to step up at this time of need and assist his brother #PrinceWilliam and the rest of the #RoyalFamily. With or without the help of #MeghanMarkle.”
However, the Sussexes will no longer be working royals as of April 1. It seems like much of what comes next will be up to the Cambridges.
“The Cambridges are not in the vulnerable sector, and they want to help,” a royal insider told Vanity Fair. “Their aides are going through the latest government advice, but it’s fair to say the focus of their work will shift.”
