There is no doubt that Queen Elizabeth lives a pretty extravagant life. Born into the royal family, she has never known anything different. Although her majesty is known for being as down to earth as they come, the truth of the matter is, she has things that the rest of us can only dream of.

From living in palaces and castles to having extravagant cars and jewelry, it is pretty safe to say that the ruling monarch is in the lap of luxury. One thing that we definitely know about the queen is that she has a soft spot for animals. Some of her pets are pretty unusual as well — she has had companions such as an elephant, turtles, a sloth, and even a jaguar.

When it comes down to it, most fans are well aware that Queen Elizabeth‘s favorite pets are and always have been her corgis. She has been pictured with them a countless number of times and has owned over 30 of the dogs in her life. Most dog lovers own two or three furry friends over the course of their lives, but not the queen. When it comes to her corgis, she obviously feels that more is better, and she has had so many of them since she was younger.

In fact, according to The Telegraph, her majesty has had a connection to corgis for over seven decades, and her last one recently passed away. She developed a love for the breed as a teenager and decided that she wanted to own one.

As a result of this, she was given a dog named Susan, and many of the other corgis that she has had are direct descendants of the first one. With cute names such as Monty, Holly, and Whisper, it is easy to see just how devoted the queen has been to her dogs.

One of the corgis even came on Queen Elizabeth’s honeymoon

A honeymoon is a special time for anyone. It is a chance for the newlyweds to leave everyone else behind and enjoy their new time as husband and wife.

For most couples, a honeymoon is a private event, meaning that they don’t typically bring anyone along. However, we know that Queen Elizabeth tends to do things her own way, so for those who are familiar with her love for corgis, it won’t come as much of a surprise that she brought one along after marrying Prince Philip.

The New York Times reports that the queen just could not bear to leave her beloved dog behind, and secretly brought the corgi along on her honeymoon.

We have already discussed how the queen lives a life of luxury, so it is only natural that she would want the same for her corgis. The dogs never had to eat the same store-bought food that most others do.

In fact, according to Express, they had a special menu that was prepared by the queen’s chef especially for them. They were treated to meals consisting of freshly hunted meat, such as rabbit, lamb, and chicken.

The special menu for the corgis was given to the chefs on a monthly basis, as the queen liked to make sure that they had some variety in the meals that they were given to eat. Queen Elizabeth considered the corgis to be part of the family, so it only makes sense that they were fed meals that are fit for royalty.
