Princess Beatrice Had a Major Role in Prince Andrew's Shocking Interview

11/26/2019

The British Royal Family and the U.K. public are still reeling from the fallout of Prince Andrew’s shocking relationship with the late sex offender — Jefferey Epstein. The prince was once close friends with Epstein and they remained friendly even after Epstein was convicted in 2008 for sex trafficking of a minor and one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking.

Earlier this year, Epstein was arrested again on new charges and a spotlight was shined on his relationship with Prince Andrew. Things got even worse for the Prince of York when one of Epstein’s alleged victims, Virginia Roberts, accused the prince of abusing her. The prince has adamantly denied these allegations.

Following Epstein’s suicide this past summer — Prince Andrew has attempted to do PR control of his image. However, a jaw-dropping interview with BBC Newsnight all but killed Prince Andrew’s entire image, outsing him from his royal role and leaving his eldest daughter in tears.

Prince Andrew’s shocking BBC ‘Newsnight’ interview

Though he hoped to clear the air about his relationship with Epstein, the prince shocked everyone by saying he did not regret their friendship. After the fallout — he walked his statement back.

“I continue to unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein,” he said in a statement. “His suicide has left many unanswered questions, particularly for his victims, and I deeply sympathise with everyone who has been affected and wants some form of closure.”

However, this did not calm the fire of this disastrous PR move. Just three days after the interview aired, the prince announced he would be stepping away from his royal duties for the foreseeable future.

Prince Beatrice helped Prince Andrew set up with BBC interview

Princess Beatrice –the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, helped her father set up the Newsnight interview and she has reportedly been in tears ever since. Mirror Online reports,

Sarah [Ferguson] was abroad so Beatrice sat in on the discussions. She was asking lots of pertinent questions and had her doubts. But by the end of the meeting, she was convinced by the Newsnight team and Amanda Thirsk [Duke’s then-private secretary] that they had no choice – that it was the only way to put all the rumors behind them. Both Sarah and Andrew rely on Beatrice’s judgment a lot when it comes to dealing with the public as she’s got an old head on young shoulders. You can’t really blame Beatrice because I think the odds were stacked against her on this one. Andrew, Fergie and Amanda decided they had to do it. In fact, Beatrice has been in tears every day since the interview went out.

Though Princess Beatrice and her younger sister, Princess Eugenie are expected to continue on with their royal duties, obviously this has affected their lives greatly.

Prince Andrew’s entire royal status is now in jeopardy

Though Queen Elizabeth is supporting her son privately. There is really no coming back from this. The prince’s 60th birthday party has been canceled and he is currently in crisis talks with his older brother, Prince Charles. “His entire public existence has been wiped out by his own behavior,” royal historian Robert Lacey told People.

For Prince Charles who has been hoping to thin out the bulky royal family, it’s clear that this is just the beginning of a new era.
