Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate Middleton Deny Donald Trump What He Wanted Most After His 'Nasty' Comments

Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate Middleton Deny Donald Trump What He Wanted Most After His 'Nasty' Comments

06/06/2019

It is safe to say that some members of the royal family do not approve of President Donald Trump. Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Harry denied Trump an opportunity for a photo op during his first state visit to the U.K., something that would have been a valuable piece of his 2020 campaign. The trio reportedly refused to pose alongside Trump because of what he said about Harry’s significant other, Meghan Markle.

Prince Harry gives Trump the cold shoulder

Prior to his visit to London, Trump was accused of calling theformer Suits star “nasty” because of comments she made duringthe 2016 election. During an interview overseas, Trump denied making thenegative comments and assured the media that he was referring to Markle’sremarks, not her as an individual. Harry apparently got wind of Trump’s denial, which only made him angrier about the entire situation.

Although Prince Harry was displeased, he still attended a private lunch with Trump and the rest of the royal family. According to The Daily Beast, Harry made sure to keep his distance from Trump whenever there were cameras around. He even left the event early and skipped out on an exhibit tour that would have likely resulted in a close encounter with Trump.

While Harry avoided snapping a photo with Trump, Prince Charlesand Queen Elizabeth II were not as lucky. They both were photographed withTrump on several occasions throughout his visit to the U.K.

Prince William and Middleton avoid Trump

Prince Harry was not the only member of the royal family who hasyet to take a photo with Trump. Prince William and Middleton have also avoidedany public encounters with the billionaire, though they were seated a fewplaces from him at the official state banquet. Harry did not attend thebanquet. Markle, of course, is recovering from having her first child withHarry and is still on maternity leave.

Although William has managed to avoid posing alongside Trump, heis expected to take a picture with him before he leaves the country. William iscurrently third in line to the throne, so skipping out on a photo op would be ahuge dig at Trump.

This is why Her Majesty and Charles have already beenphotographed with Trump, something that was expected from them at the start.Exactly when, or if, Prince William will get his turn to snap a pic with Trump,of course, is still unknown.

Trump talks about Prince Harry

Despite his negative comments about Markle, Trump only had good things to say about meeting Harry. In fact, Trump told reporters that he had a brief encounter with Harry during a tour of Buckingham Palace and that the royal could not have been nicer to him.

He also revealed that Prince Harry spent a lot of time chattingwith his family, including Ivanka. It is unclear what Trump and Harry talkedabout, though the former did congratulate him on the birth of his son, Archie.

Trump is scheduled to attend a special event in honor of the 75thanniversary of D-Day before leaving the country. After London, Trump is expectedto visit Ireland and Normandy before returning home. People have protestedTrump’s arrival all week. So far, around 75,000 people have gathered to expresstheir dislike for Trump, which is well under what organizers originallyestimated.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ignore Trump on social media

Members of the royal family are not allowed to express theirpolitical views in public, so we probably won’t ever know how Harry, William, and Middleton really feel about Trump. Although Trump’s visit has made headlinesin the U.K., Harry and Markle did not mention it on their Instagram profile.

Instead, their last post was about celebrating Pride Month and giving a shout out to members of the LGBTQ community. Trump does not have a good relationship with the LGBTQ community in the United States, and many of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s followers took their post as a clear dig at some of his conservative policies.

Markle has not commented on Trump’s visit to the U.K.
