Prince Harry and Ed Sheeran Team Up: 'Look Out For Anybody Suffering In Silence'

Prince Harry and Ed Sheeran’s teaser video yesterday played out in full today and it was everything. Sheeran stopped by to meet up with Harry to talk about collaborating on an important cause — only Sheeran misunderstood what they’re teaming up for. Bonus: Prince Harry showed off some impressive comedy chops.

For World Mental Health Day, Prince Harry and Sheeran gottogether for a fun video with a serious message.

The video begins with Sheeran prepping to visit with Harry, as he notes while getting a shave: “I’m really excited today. I’m going to go and film a thing with Prince Harry. He contacted me about doing a charity video with him, which, you know, is going to be good. I’ve long admired him from afar.” 

Sounds like Prince Harry has a famous fan! Sheeran then stops by to see Prince Harry, ringing the doorbell and being greeted by Harry, who quips, “It’s like looking in a mirror.”

Sheeran misunderstood the point of the video

Sheeran was excited to talk shop about a  cause he’s “quite passionate”about, but it turns out he and Prince Harry weren’tquite on the same page.

Prince Harry notes, “This, for me, is a subject and aconversation that’s just not talked about enough. I think people all over theworld are really suffering.” 

Sheeran shares he’s “trying to write a song about this, to get it out to more people,” which Harry is on board for, saying, “Someone with your skillset, to be able to write lyrics of a song, to raise awareness I think would be amazing.”

Sheeran notes, “That’s exactly what I’m trying to do. Peoplejust don’t understand what it’s like for people like us,”which clues Harry in.

The singer explains, “Well, you know, with like thejokes and the snide comments. I just feel like it’s time that we stood up andsaid, you know, ‘We’re not going to take this anymore. We are ginger and we’regoing to fight.’”

Prince Harry responds, “Um, OK. Um, slightly awkward” and clears things up for Sheeran, sharing, “Um, this may be a miscommunication, but this isabout World Mental Health Day.”

Sheeran covers for the misunderstanding, sharing that he “definitely knew that,” as we see him delete the title of a presentation on his laptop called “Gingers Unite” which includes an item for how they can “change the perception of people with Moroccan sunset hair.”

Look out for those suffering in silence

With the miscommunication cleared up, Prince Harry and Sheeran address the camera, with Harry noting: “Guys, this World Mental Health Day, reach out and make sure that your friends, strangers, look out for anybody that might be suffering in silence. We’re all in this together.”

The caption for the video on the Sussex Royal Instagram account notes: “It’s World Mental Health Day! Both Prince Harry and Ed Sheeran want to ensure that not just today but every day, you look after yourself, your friends and those around you.”

The post includes accounts to check out for resources and support, noting: “There’s no need to suffer in silence — share how you’re feeling, ask how someone is doing and listen for the answer. Be willing to ask for help when you need it and know that we are all in this together.”
