He’s all grown up! Prince George, nine, led his family at Easter Sunday service in ‘status step-up’, says body language expert – and fans can’t believe how tall he is now!

Last year he was guided by his parents – but this time around, Prince George was the leader of the group as he led his family at the Easter Sunday service yesterday.

The nine-year-old royal was joined at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle by his father and mother, the Prince and Princess of Wales, as well as his siblings, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four.

But while in 2022 he stood firmly between his parents as they walked towards the service, this year he showed a new ‘grown-up dynamic’, noted body language expert Judi James, because he strolled ahead to lead his family.

Fans also couldn’t help but notice how grown up the young royal looked, pointing out his height, with one person writing on Twitter: ‘Prince George is getting very tall now and his confidence is showing through.’

The King, Queen Consort and other senior royals turned out in force in the grounds of Windsor Castle yesterday, enjoying the bright sunshine ahead of the first Easter Sunday service of Charles’s reign.

Judi told FEMAIL: ‘At this Easter service there was a status step-up from George, who walked ahead to lead his family into the service, showing a newly grown-up dynamic from the five Wales’s when it comes to royal outings.

‘George used to be the one holding his father’s hand and looking rather timid, but here it was Charlotte walking in alongside William while Kate held Louis’s hand beside them.

‘Even this family pecking-order had its own upgrade though, as Charlotte turned to look at her younger brother with what looked like a small checking gesture and then a beam of pride at his impeccable behaviour.

‘On the way out of the service it was Charlotte mirroring her mother, walking beside Kate and offering her own shy wave to the crowds in a gesture that showed who she takes her own lead from.

‘Louis was a very different boy from the playful, fidgety young royal we saw at the Jubilee. Walking beside Kate he looked serious and confident, offering a level stare at the crowds of fans and well-wishers, who seemed to have saved a special cheer for this mother and son duo.

‘Kate looked down at Louis with a grin of pride before smiling back up at the crowd as though sharing her admiration for his grown-up behaviour. Louis even appeared to look down to straighten his tie as he entered the chapel.’

The expert continued: ‘George was the first of their party out after the service, shaking hands without any prompting.’

Meanwhile, Princess Charlotte was the Princess of Wales’s mini-me as they left the Easter Sunday service at Windsor Castle together.

The Princess of Wales – who could be seen holding her daughter’s coat as the pair left together – put on an elegant display in a marine blue Catherine Walker coat and matching pill-box hat by Lock & Co.

Charles and Camilla arrived wearing matching royal blue outfits, with the King in a suit and the Queen Consort wearing a coat dress by Anna Valentine with a Philip Treacy hat. They were followed by the Duke of York and the Princess Royal.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh arrived with their son James, the Earl of Wessex.

Princess Beatrice and her husband, Eduardo Mapelli Mozzi, also attended the service, a staple in the royal calendar, as did her sister Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, and Zara and Mike Tindall and their two daughters, Mia and Lena.

It was likely to have been a moving moment for the royal family, with the 15th century chapel being the late Queen’s final resting place and the Easter Sunday service the first to take place since her death.

Elizabeth II is buried in the church’s tiny King George VI Memorial Chapel, alongside Prince Philip, the late Duke of Edinburgh, and her parents, George VI and the Queen Mother, with their four names inscribed on a new black stone slab set in the floor.

Charles, as monarch, has succeeded his mother to become the Supreme Governor of the Church of England.

In less than a month’s time, he will be crowned alongside Camilla in a religious service in Westminster Abbey.
