Piers Morgan Slams Meghan Markle for Posting Wedding Photos on Instagram

05/21/2019

Piers Morgan is fired up over Meghan Markle, yet again, this time calling her a “diva” after she posted photos to Instagram from her wedding to Prince Harry on their first anniversary. For the most part, fans of the royal couple were happy to have a look at the never-before-seen images from their big day, but Morgan had an issue with it.

Prince Harry and Markle shared their wedding photos

As it was their first wedding anniversary, Prince Harry and Markle chose to post some photos from their big day. They captioned the images: “Thank you for all of the love and support from so many of you around the world. Each of you made this day even more meaningful.”

Sweet, right? According to Morgan, he believes that Markle, in particular, engages in shameless “self-promoting” on social media.

He wrote in a piece for Mail Online: “I don’t knowwhat’s really going on in the reportedly feuding Palace life of the Duke andDuchess of Sussex and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, but I do know they’rebehaving like they’re in a royal reality TV show where the winner gets mostpress coverage in a short period of time.”

He continued: “Leading the charge, naturally, is theHollywood actress who seems to view publicity as a giant tiara-adorned tap fromwhich she wishes to determinedly control every single droplet. You’d thinkMeghan might have cooled the self-promoting jets after the recent birth of sonArchie, given how much attention it attracted. Sadly not.”

Why Piers Morgan feels the Instagram posts are in poor form

Morgan notes that the couple “bombarded us” on social media and described their post as including “carefully selected images, all personally approved by the couple to show them in a ‘perfect’ light.’”

Morgan also called them hypocrites for using Instagram given the fact that Prince Harry “launched a campaign to stop people using social media so much because of the mental health damage he believes it causes.”

Piers then took aim at Markle after her friends defended her on the recent CBS special with Gayle King, sharing: “The friends… lined up to say how fabulous Meghan is, what a ‘low maintenance and hands on’ mother she will be, how unfair all the negative press about her has been, and how she is categorically ‘NOT A DIVA!’ (Pro tip: whenever people repeatedly have to get their friends to deny they’re a diva, you know they’re a diva).”

He even went after Prince William and Kate Middleton

Morgan wasn’t through bashing the royals, however, saving a bit of disgust for Prince William and Kate Middleton, who shared family photos of their children playing in the garden Middleton helped design for the Chelsea Flower Show.

Morgan fumed: “The images, which appeared on theKensington Palace Instagram page at 10pm last night, were intimate familypictures but taken in a very controlled manner. No chance of any paparazzigetting an ‘unapproved’ shot.”

He added:  “Themessage from the photos was clear: ‘We’re also great parents, and also a greatcouple too!’”

Morgan wants them to ‘stop their silly PR war’

Morgan further shared his belief that the PR blitz from the young royals “smacks of both royal camps trying to get one over each other, which if true will just further fuel all the feud rumours.”

He continued: “Old-fashioned decorum is now frowned upon, a stiff upper lip even more reviled, and silence most definitely not considered golden. There’s a balance to be struck between being a proper royal and being relatable — and right now, I think the Sussexes and Cambridges are missing it.”

He concluded his rant by sharing, “It’s time for them to stop their silly PR war, and to stop overloading us with so much self-promoting ‘stuff.’”
