Phillip Schofield family: Inside the TV presenter’s family life as he comes out as gay

Phillip Schofield has revealed he is gay, and today detailed the struggles he has been facing as a result of his “inner conflict.”

The television presenter, who sits alongside Holly Willoughby on popular ITV show This Morning, shared an emotional post with his two million Instagram followers, saying that his wife and daughters have been supporting him throughout the process, “despite their own confusion.”

He then took to the This Morning sofa to pay tribute to his friends and family, who have been incredibly supportive of his decision to announce the news.

Phillip, 57, has been married to his wife Stephanie Lowe since 1993, and the pair share two daughters, Ruby and Molly.

Phillip married wife Stephanie, 55, in 1993, and the pair have remained married for 27 years.

Together, they live in Henley-on-Thames and Philip once told Christine Lampard how they met, during an interview on Lorraine.

He said: “She worked in television years ago, that was how we met, so she can do it [television], she just doesn't want to these days."

The pair live in a stunning home, and Phillip often posts pictures to Instagram showing off his stylish interiors and amazing garden.

Phillip has credited his wife as having provided “strength and support” during the process of him coming out.

He said: “This is something that has caused many heart-breaking conversations at home. I have been married to Steph for nearly 27 years, and we have two beautiful grown-up daughters, Molly and Ruby.

“My family have held me so close; they have tried to cheer me up, to smother me with kindness and love, despite their own confusion. Yet still I can’t sleep and there have been some very dark moments.”

Molly has accumulated 44,000 followers on Instagram and pens in her bio: “I intend to live forever. So far, so good.”

The beautiful blonde, whose middle name is May, works as an assistant talent manager at James Grant Group media.

Philip’s youngest daughter is named Ruby, 24; a recent university graduate who attended Leeds and achieved a 2:1 degree.

Ruby is known for her love of attending festivals, and regularly posts pictures of her family on Instagram.

She has an impressive following on Instagram of 59,000 and wows with her forward-thinking fashion and outfits which she shares with her fans.

In Phillip's candid confession, Holly made the statement that telling his daughter's he was gay couldn't have been easy, to which Phillip replied: "They are so amazing in their love and support. I sat them down and I told them and they jumped up and they gave me a hug. A big hug. A long hug. And then they hugged Steph and they said it's OK."

Phillip added: "We'll always be a family."
