A mother who forgot to sign her son’s homework diary was left amused when he revealed his attempts at forging her signature.

Taking to Facebook group, Family Lowdown Tips and Ideas, Nicola Green, from the UK, shared a snap of her son’s note alongside a caption which read: ‘When your son says Mum I had to forge your signature because you didn’t sign my homework diary! I’m guessing they may suspect it wasn’t actually me who signed it.’

To avoid getting in trouble, the young boy had tried his best to replicate his mother’s signature by signing it off simply as the name he knew her as best – ‘Mum.’ 

And it wasn’t long before the post garnered hundreds of other comments from parents who had experienced similar forgery attempts from their cheeky children.

In a youngster’s handwriting, it read: ‘Dear Miss Chapman,

Tia cannot take part in PE as she has a sore hip where she stands to a side and her bone sticks out. So I prefer if she don’t take part.’ 

Elsewhere, a hungry year 7 student named Marcus tried his very best to try and get access to the dinner hall before the rest of the school’s pupils.

On a piece of screwed up scrap paper, he scribbled: ‘Dear Mr, Please could you send Marcus to dinner hall at 10am. Marcus mum.’ 

Unfortunately, despite his best efforts, the fact he signed his letter his letter from ‘Marcus’ mum’ and wrote it on a piece of scrap paper meant that he was caught out before his sneaky plan succeeded. 

Another shared her son’s PE note which read: ‘Finlay has pulled a muscle in his knee,’ before being signed off ‘Finlay’s mum’

She captioned the post: ‘My little girl came home from school with this one day. Possible forgery?’

And it seems the mother had a right to be wary about the authenticity of the note, which was written in very suspicious handwriting, which praised the young girl for ‘being kind to Tristan.’ 

Elsewhere, a further commented: ‘My daughter use to forge her homework diary…but not with my signature as it was to difficult apparently so she used her Grandma’s instead…

I’m still not sure why the school didn’t say anything given they knew her grandma lived in Portugal.’
