Winning an Oscar is what people in the movie industry spend their lives striving for, so it’s no wonder Bong Joon Ho was very pleased with his.

The director won the award for best original screenplay for Parasite, and he could not have been more excited to have the coveted statue in his hands.

After making his acceptance speech, Bong handed over the mic to Han Jin Won as they celebrated having made the first South Korean film to win an Oscar.

As well as being pleased for the director’s well-deserved win, fans were even more obsessed with his adorable reaction to his Oscar.

While Han Jin Won was giving his acceptance speech, Bong could be seen off to one side, looking down at his Oscar and giggling to himself in joy.

Fans took to Twitter to comment on the adorable moment, writing: ‘bong joon ho admiring his oscar is literally the most wholesome thing ever’.

Others added: ‘Ladies… if he don’t look at you like Bong Joon-Ho looks at his #Oscar … he ain’t the right dood’ and ‘Bong Joon ho smiling at his award is the cutest thing I’ve seen all night. Well deserved. Congrats’.

The wholesome giggle at his award was some fans’ favourite moment of the night, as they added: ‘find you a man that looks at you the way Bong Joon Ho looks at his Oscar’ and ‘bong joon-ho looking down at his (hopefully not only) oscar and smiling is the type of wholesome content we need this year’.

Bong said in his acceptance speech: ‘Writing a script is always such a lonely process. We never write to represent our countries. This is very personal for South Korea.’

He added: ‘I thank my wife for always being an inspiration to me. I thank all the actors who are with me today for bringing this film to life.’
