My stepson kicked me out of our house and out of his father's will

DEAR DEIDRE: I’VE become homeless after my stepson booted me out of the home that I’ve loved for 30 years.

I’m a widow of 56. My husband was 62 and died last year. We lived on a farm.

When we met 31 years ago, he was widowed. His wife had died in a riding accident and he had a son of five.

I moved in with them and brought my stepson up as my own. During his teenage years we clashed a lot.

My husband sadly passed away after a short illness and my stepson took over the running of the farm.

The will was changed while I believe my husband was mentally compromised – and when it was read, I realised I’d been left with nothing.

My stepson has changed the locks and he’s told me that I can’t go back.

I’ve been sleeping on friends’ sofas and even spent a couple of nights in the park. I’m homeless and scared.

DEIDRE SAYS: I’m so sorry for your loss. Thirty years of contributing to the family home should amount to something, so you may have grounds to contest the will.
