Mum’s engagement ring dubbed ‘ugliest ever’ after she passes it onto daughter

A mum's engagement ring dating back to the 1980s has been mocked on Facebook in a savage post.

It was shared by the unnamed woman's daughter on the That's It, I'm Ring Shaming group, who explained that she calls it the "sweater destroyer".

The unusual piece consists of a large gold band mounted with a diamond on a high setting – giving a striking resemblance of a doorknob.

She said her dad had proposed to her mum with that ring, which was passed onto her when she turned 18.

But many were unimpressed by the band, dubbing it the "ugliest ring ever".

One wrote: "Ding ding ding we have a winner. This might just be the most horrid ring I have ever seen."

Another added: "I'm really sorry to be mean but this is it. Probably officially, the ugliest ring."

Other Facebook users were quick to point out the ring had resembled a vintage doorknob or a nail.

The person said: "Looks like a doorknob," while a fellow commentator replied: "Surely he nicked that off the front of a drawer somewhere."

Another added: "At least it doubles as a mirror so she can look at herself and re-evaluate her choices."

However, some Facebook users claimed the woman's mum must have really loved her husband to say yes to that ring.

"Your mum must have really loved him," said one.

While a user joked: "Love is blind… or causes blindness… something like that. Haha."

Then one social media joked: "Does your dad hate your mum?"
