Meghan Markle Wants Prince Harry to Stay Close to the Royal Family Amid Megxit

03/19/2020

When Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex decided to leave their roles as senior working members of the British royal family, it changed things for everyone. The royal family had been enjoying a new level of public attention since Meghan and Prince Harry’s romance began. Additionally, many people assumed that Prince Harry and Prince William would always be close.

Unfortunately, due to the racism, bullying, and harassment that Meghan endured, the Sussexes decided that living their lives in the spotlight was not something they wanted to continue. Since announcing Megxit, the Sussexes have mostly been living a quiet life in Canada, returning to the U.K. to complete their final royal duties.

Amid Megxit, all eyes have landed on the duchess. However, despite what people think about her, she wants her husband to remain close to his family.

This morning, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was christened in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle at an intimate service officiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are so happy to share the joy of this day with members of the public who have been incredibly supportive since the birth of their son. They thank you for your kindness in welcoming their first born and celebrating this special moment. Their Royal Highnesses feel fortunate to have enjoyed this day with family and the godparents of Archie. Their son, Archie, was baptised wearing the handmade replica of the royal christening gown which has been worn by royal infants for the last 11 years. The original Royal Christening Robe, made of fine Honiton lace lined with white satin, was commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1841 and first worn by her eldest daughter. It was subsequently worn for generations of Royal christenings, including The Queen, her children and her grandchildren until 2004, when The Queen commissioned this handmade replica, in order for the fragile historic outfit to be preserved, and for the tradition to continue. Leaving the royal family was not an easy decision for the Sussexes

Though they announced Megxit seemingly out of the blue in January 2020, Meghan and Prince Harry thought long and hard about their decision before pulling the plug on royal life.

The Duke of Sussex has given some insight regarding their decision since then. “The decision that I have made for my wife and I to step back is not one I made lightly,” he said during a speech at a dinner for his charity, Sentebale. “It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges. And I know I haven’t always got it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option.”

More recently, in a leaked phone call, the duke explained that having his son made him realize the dangers of the spotlight. “That’s probably a conversation for another time, there’s lots of layers to it and lots of pieces to the puzzle,” the prince reportedly said. “But sometimes the right decision isn’t always the easy one. And this decision certainly wasn’t the easy one but it was the right decision for our family, the right decision to be able to protect my son.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle hope to reconnect with the British royal family this summer

Amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis and the Sussexes’ seemingly awkward encounter with the royal family at Commonwealth Day, everyone is taking a step back. However, Meghan and Prince Harry are hoping to reconnect with the royals this summer.

“Harry and Meghan are believed to have accepted the Queen’s invitation to visit her this summer at Balmoral, her Scottish retreat, and are planning to take their son with them,” The Sunday Times reported. “The Queen would love to see more of Archie, as would Prince Charles and the rest of the family.”

Meghan Markle wants Prince Harry to remain close to her family

The Duchess of Sussex never had an issue with the royals — the institution itself, which is built on exclusion and steeped in racism was a lot for her to deal with.

“Meghan wants Harry to remain close to his family,” a source told Hollywood Life. “There’s no question about that. It’s been a tough time but at the end of the day he still loves his family and that won’t change and hasn’t changed. He has always been close to his grandmother and he very much wants her to have time with Archie, he loves seeing them together. It was sad they couldn’t bring Archie over on their trip but it was the sensible choice and everyone understood. They do want to go back as soon as they can to remedy that though.”

Prince Harry will always love his country and he will always be beloved by them.
