Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Must Be 'Careful' Discussing 2 People in Their Oprah Interview, Former Palace Spokesperson Says

02/25/2021

The latest Prince Harry and Meghan Markle news is the couple will be giving an exclusive interview. Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex are preparing for a sitdown with their neighbor and friend, Oprah Winfrey. But what will they talk about? According to a former royal spokesperson, Meghan and Harry have to watch what they say about two specific people. Hint: It’s not Prince William, Duke of Cambridge or Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped down as senior royals in 2020

The Winfrey interview comes nearly a year after Meghan and Harry stepped down as senior “working” royals. The couple made their surprising announcement in January 2020. It came after spending the holidays in Canada with their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

Meghan and Harry spent the first few months of the year finishing out the last of their official royal engagements. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, they worked with Queen Elizabeth II to settle on the terms of their exit.

Meghan and Harry made their last appearance as senior royals in March 2020. They attended a service at Westminster Abbey in honor of Commonwealth Day. The event wasn’t without an awkward moment or two. Meghan and Harry appeared to have a bit of a tense interaction with Catherine and William, intensifying the rumor the brothers weren’t getting along.

Following the last of their engagements, Meghan and Harry relocated to California where they bought a home. They’ve since signed lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify while also moving forward with their Archewell Foundation.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry must be ‘careful’ discussing their son and Thomas Markle

“The Sussexes have an army of professional well paid advisors so they will go into the interview well-rehearsed and prepared,” former royal spokesperson, Dickie Arbiter, told Vanity Fair in February 2021.

Arbiter continued, saying they will however have to tread lightly on certain topics. Namely, when it comes to family.

“They will have to be careful particularly when speaking about their son and Meghan’s father [Thomas Markle].” Arbiter said.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex keep Archie out of the spotlight. Most recently, the 1-year-old made an adorable appearance on his parents’ inaugural Archewell Audio podcast. With some coaching from Harry, Archie wished listeners a happy new year.

As for Meghan’s father, their relationship has been strained for years. The former Hollywood lighting director didn’t attend Meghan and Harry’s 2018 royal wedding. He’s also been more outspoken than the Sussexes or royal family might like.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Oprah Winfrey interview will air in March
