Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Perfector 4-in-1 Glow Makeup review

12/29/2022

Beauty trends come and go, but glowing skin is a look that will never go out of fashion, with constant new skincare sensations, make-up launches and TikTok trends – from slugging to “moisture sandwiching” – all promising to create that longed for luminous skin look.

The latest product to make headlines is Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind Perfector 4-in-1 Glow Makeup. Already a hit in the States, it’s now available to buy over here for £12.99 here. Available in seven shades, Maybelline calls its newest launch a primer, concealer, highlighter and BB cream all in one, and says it can be used under, over or instead of foundation to create “the ultimate in dewy, illuminated, fresh-looking skin”.

4-in-1 Glow is also getting attention on TikTok (where else?), with #Maybelline4in1 currently racking up over 16 million views – mostly because it’s being compared to another famous illuminator, Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter. Loved by celebs and make-up artists alike, Flawless Filter is, quite rightly, a cult classic product – but costing £36 here, it’s not exactly the most affordable way to get your glow on.

OK! beauty editor Laura tries out Maybelline’s 4-in-1 Glow Makeup to see what all the fuss is about…

Laura says:

“I’m not one for lengthy make-up routines, but applying one of these ‘glow enhancers’ before foundation has become a staple part of my morning habits. The love affair started with the original – Tilbury’s Flawless Filter – but recently I’d also been seduced by e.l.f.’s Halo Glow. Now, however, my head’s definitely being turned by Maybelline’s new contender.

“It glides over the skin with a dewy, almost wet texture that dries down into a veil of subtle shimmer that instantly makes skin look amazing – fresh, healthy and radiant. Coverage is basically non-existent, which is why I think it works best as a primer or highlighter, under or over foundation (calling it a concealer is pushing it a bit). Comparing it to my two other aforementioned favourites, I’d say that both Tilbury’s and e.l.f.’s versions give more coverage and more of a creamy ‘skincare-like’ feel than this Maybelline one.

“My only niggle is the spongey tip as, although it makes the product travel-friendly and easy to apply, it’s not the most hygienic application method. But regardless, 4-in-1 Glow has immediately become a new favourite in my make-up bag.”
