Martin Lewis' MoneySavingExpert warns Tesco shoppers ahead of major change coming within DAYS – check if you're affected | The Sun

MARTIN Lewis' MoneySavingExpert has warned Tesco shoppers ahead of a major change coming this week.

The consumer champion is urging customers to make sure they have the new Tesco app downloaded before the current one is axed.

The MoneySavingExpert (MSE) site has reminded shoppers that the Clubcard app will no longer be available from Tuesday, April 18.

Instead, shoppers will need to download the new Tesco Grocery and Clubcard App to keep earning points.

The Clubcard app lets you scan a digital version of your Clubcard at the checkout, as well as view and spend your vouchers.

It comes after the  Tesco Pay+ was also scrapped in February to also make way for the new platform.

Tesco Pay+ allowed you to store your credit or debit card along with your Clubcard details – it was axed on February 27 this year.

The new app is now available to download the new app from the Apple app store or Google Play store.

You'll need to download it in order to make hefty savings when doing your grocery shop.

That's because Clubcard holders get cheaper prices on some items compared to those without the loyalty card.

If you still have a physical Tesco Clubcard, you will still be able to use it in store and you won't be affected by the change.

It's not the only change coming to Clubcard holders this year.

The supermarket chain is reducing the value of Clubcard vouchers spent with reward partners.

Martin Lewis revealed exactly what the change means for you.

What is the new Tesco Grocery and Clubcard App and how is it different?

Tesco has said its new app has all of the Pay+ and Clubcard app features.

It can be used to pay in-store, collect points and get Clubcard prices.

You can also spend vouchers and coupons, check products are in stock before you shop, create shopping lists and pay check-out free at GetGo stores.

You can also scan the payment barcode to release the 'Scan as you Shop' handset.

To switch to the new app, just search for Tesco grocery app in the App Store or Google Play.

You'll find Pay+ features in the app under 'Shop in-store' and 'Pay in-store'.

How does the Tesco Clubcard scheme work?

Tesco’s Clubcard allows shoppers to earn points as they shop which can then be turned into vouchers for money off food or other partner schemes.

Each time you spend £1 in store and online, you get one point when you scan your card or app.

You also get one point for every £2 spent on fuel.

One point equals 1p, so 150 points gets you £1.50, for example.

You'll need a minimum of 150 points to request a voucher.

Once you have enough points, you can turn them into vouchers worth the face value to spend in store at Tesco.

You can triple their worth to spend at reward partners, including restaurants, and on days out.

Clubcard holders also get cheaper prices on some items compared to those without the loyalty card.

Tesco isn't the only supermarket to have made changes to its app.
