Man proposes to girlfriend with bizarre cat tattoo on his bum

A man proposed to his girlfriend by getting a tattoo of their cat Pinkie on his bum with the words "Will you marry meow?"

Dustin Marshall, 32, shunned the tradition of popping the question by getting down on one knee.

Instead, he 'cheekily' proposed to his partner Lindsey Norman by pulling down his trousers to reveal the tattoo on his backside during a game of pool just two days before Christmas last year.

Lindsey, 30, told him to come closer so she could get a better look at it – and was shocked when she realised her boyfriend Dustin was asking her to marry him.

She broke into tears of joy said yes once the shock wore off and the cat lovers are now busy preparing for their wedding in August next year.

Bohemian bride-to-be Lindsey, from Hertfordshire, is set to tell the couple's unusual story during an appearance on the TLC programme Curvy Brides Boutique.

In the episode, which debuts on Friday night, Lindsey tells boutique owners Jo Cooke and Alison Law: "Dustin actually got a tattoo on his bum of our cat with ‘Will you marry meow?’ written underneath".

She is wearing a dress covered in images of cats.

Jo was amused and a bit shocked, saying: “Having a tattoo on your butt of a cat as a marriage proposal? Whoa, whoa, whoa, I’m too old for all this."

Lindsey visited the Essex-based boutique with her best friend and chief bridesmaid Jakki to find her dream dress for her woodland wedding to fiancé Dustin.

She says in a trailer for the episode: “I definitely don’t want white. I don’t want to look like a princess with all the layers and the big ballgown.

"I like floaty. I’d like to look a bit like a fairy."

Jakki adds: “She’s got a vision, she’s got a definite vision and there’s no steering away from it at all."

Lindsey was a hit with Jo and Al, who says: “Lindsey, the red hair, this fabulous cat dress, she is oozing personality and style."

While trying on dresses, Al points out how confident Lindsey is in herself and with her body, and brings up the subject of body confidence to her.

Lindsey says: “It’s taken a while, a long time actually, for me to feel not really bothered about what people think.

"Some things still knock you though. Somebody at work just out-and-out asked me what it was like to be in a mixed-weight relationship.

Al says: “I can honestly say, in all of my 42 years, that I have never heard that comment before."

Lindsey told Metro that Dustin proposed during a game of pool, adding: "He orchestrated it so he would get 'seven-balled', where the black is sunk when one player still has all seven of their balls on the table.

"Our rule is you have to pull your pants down if that happens, so he just pulled down his trousers.

"I looked over and said 'What’s that on your bum?'

"He walked over to me and I could see that it said 'Will you marry meow?' with a picture of our cat.

A friend passed the engagement ring to Dustin, and Lindsey broke into tears of joy.

Lindsey said had been dropping hints about getting engaged, and she was shocked when Dustin proposed because she wasn't expecting it at all or in such a unique way.

Until then, he had managed to keep the tattoo a secret, even sleeping in the couple's spare room at night.

Curvy Brides Boutique airs at 8pm on Fridays exclusively on TLC.
