Oftentimes, reality stars are known to have some controversial and/or polarizing opinions. That is the case for former Love & Hip Hop star Deb Antney, whose fans seem to have mostly reacted negatively to her reveal in a Growing up Hip Hop trailer that she voted for Donald Trump.

Deb Antney’s time on ‘Love & Hip Hop’ and ‘Growing up Hip Hop

Before first appearing on reality television, Antney was a major figure in the music industry. She was instrumental in the careers of hip-hop artists including Gucci Mane, Nicki Minaj, French Montana, and her son and co-starWaka Flocka Flame.

Antney has appeared on several seasons of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. She guest-starred on the first and second seasons of the show, working with Rasheeda and others. In the third season, she officially joined the show as a supporting cast member. That season, her storyline revolved around the death of her other son and how she became involved in anti-bullying and suicide prevention campaigns.

In seasons four, five and, six, she continued to be a supporting cast member. In this capacity, she appeared to mostly giving support to Waka Flocka Flame and his wife, veteran Love & Hip Hop cast member Tammy Rivera. For season six, she also helped Tommie Lee try to reconnect with her mother. In season 6, she left the show, as did Waka Flocka Flame and Rivera.

Once she left the franchise, she began appearing on WE tv’s Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta, which she also executive produces. She has appeared on every season of the show so far. Waka Flocka Flame and Rivera began appearing on the show beginning in season 3. They have since appeared in the network’s Marriage Boot Camp, and now, their own show, Waka and Tammy: What the Flocka. Antney also appeared in the latter.

Deb Antney has been very critical

Antney does not seem to look back on her Love & Hip Hop time with any fondness.

In an interview with Atlanta Journal-Constitution, she said, “It’s very disgraceful for women. It makes our men look horrible. I’m just not for it. I’m not for the drama like that.”

On Waka Flocka Flame and Rivera, she said, “They went through so much on the other show, they were a little resistant at first to be open. But by the end, they let people see who they are. People have perceptions of celebrities, that they’re not human. But it’s not easy being a mom and wife and entrepreneur and singer like Tammy. I feel women can relate to a lot of her struggles.

The new trailer for ‘Growing up Hip Hop’ Atlanta

A new Growing up Hip Hop trailer was released and comments made by Antney have a lot of folks talking. In the exclusive clip released by The Jasmine Brand, Antney says she voted for Trump. Several cast members are critical of her viewpoint, including Rivera, Bow Wow and Da Brat.

Rivera is heard saying, “I would hate to have to disown my own mother in law.”

On Instagram, fans seem to feel the same. Someone commented and said, “Deb wants attention that bad she resorts to trump that’s sad.”

Another fan added, “I always thought Deb was different, but not this different lol.”

But some fans aren’t shocked. One person wrote, “How is the cast shocked and Waka shocked after Waka’s own public comments? Or did I miss something?”
