I'm a money-saving guru – you should always shop at Aldi on a Wednesday and how to get 75% off items | The Sun

A BARGAIN expert has revealed his top tips for finding little-known deals in Aldi.

Aldi is known for its cut price groceries and bargain buys, but Tom Church, co-founder of Latest Deals, says there are ways to save even more pennies.

Posting on TikTok, the 31-year-old revealed how you can save up to 75% when shopping at the popular budget supermarket.

Tom has shared his favourite tops and tricks to help you take on the aisles at the German discount store.

Shop on a Wednesday

Aldi is known for its already low prices, so any day you visit the budget supermarket, you'll likely come across a good bargain.

Tom says a Wednesday is the best day to shop because that's when all the reduced prices are launched.

Prices are dropped overnight, and shoppers often rush to their local Aldi early in the morning to nab the best deals.

But this isn't the only opportunity to grab a bargain.

Every two weeks Aldi carefully selects six products to feature in its Super Six offer.

But as the deal is refreshed every two weeks, shoppers only have a short window to make the most of the offers until they are changed.

Just weeks left to apply for free cash worth up to £500

This one you can claim in-store though, or via click and collect with an additional charge of £4.99, but you can't have the discounted products delivered to your door as Aldi doesn't offer the service.

Look out for red stickers

Yellow stickers are they key to a successful shop for most customers, and Aldi has its own version of labelled bargains too.

Tom says not many customers are aware that the stickers are red in Aldi, so they should keep their eyes peeled if they are looking for discounted food.

He claims you can often save up to 75% off products marked up this way in Aldi, so it's worth keeping an eye out in store.

You can often save up to 75% off products marked up in this way in Aldi, so it's worth keeping an eye out in the store.

Aldi discounts other goods by 30% if the packaging is imperfect too.

What's on offer can vary from store to store though, and will be subject to availability.

Save on "fakeaways"

We've all got our favourite brands that we known and love, so it can be difficult branching out and trying something new.

But with the cost of living crisis, many shoppers are looking to find the food they love for less.

While Aldi is known for its dupes, like its Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake, Tom says not many shoppers know that can also find versions of their favourite takeaway.

Aldi revealed its take on some McDonald's favourites – including the Big Mac and breakfast hash browns last year.

The Big Stack – a dupe of the Big Mac – is priced at just £1.49 compared to £3.49 in McDonald's itself.

And the hash browns come in a pack of 10 for £1.59, while in McDonald's they are 89p each.

How else can I save when shopping at Aldi?

Super 6

Every two weeks, Aldi picks six of its favourites to offer to shoppers at low prices.

Right now, for example, you can get cucumbers, apples, pears and tomatoes each for 59p a pack.

You can also get oranges and potatoes for just 79p a pack in this leg of the fortnightly offer.

Each of the fruits and veggies are usually 95p a pack, so shoppers can save up to 36p during the limited run this time around.

The prices don't change over the two weeks that the offer is live so really you can cash in at any time – though what's on offer will change every fortnight.

But if you want to be sure to get the best of the bunch, then heading to the store at the start of the week to pick the freshest items won't hurt.

What about non food bits from Aldi?

Aldi's got plenty of foodie bits on offer throughout the week but what about the other stuff that the budget store sells in-store and online?

Well that's easy to answer – you should be heading to your nearest Aldi on Thursdays or logging on, on Sundays, to cash-in on all the best deals on garden furniture, kitchen gadgets, toys, and more.

If you want a special item from the genius middle aisle, you want to visit the shop immediately after they receive new stock.

That means heading on Thursday morning – otherwise you could miss out.

For online shoppers it means getting online at 8am sharp for all the latest Specialbuy drops.

You really do need to be speedy though, as shoppers have been left disappointed in the past when popular items like the store's hanging egg chair have sold out in less than an hour.
