‘I went out to tan for an hour – now I’ve got blisters on my red, swollen face’

A woman hoped to get some nice colour on her skin by sunbathing – but her tanning session went so badly that she's got blisters on her face.

Eva Jones went out last Wednesday (July 13) to enjoy the nice sunny weather – despite the Met Office warning people only go out if it's "absolutely necessary".

She assumed she'd be fine, thinking that "tanning for an hour won't do much".

In the video she shared on TikTok, Eva puts on a cute monochrome outfit and matches it with gold accessories and a pair of sunglasses.

As the sun hits, Eva's face begins to turn red – especially her forehead and hose.

A few hours later, she is a shade of beetroot except the eye area, which was covered by her sunglasses.

By the time she gets back home, she realises the redness remains on her skin and her face has "swelled up".

Eva finds blisters popping up on her forehead, as well as on her nose and her chin.

Viewers blasted Eva for not wearing sunscreen and ignoring the weather warning.

"Why people don’t ever learn…you’ve not made it to this ripe old age without any knowledge of the damage sun can do to your skin *sigh*," one wrote.

A second said: "Coming from a ginger. If you don’t have sun cream on, only go out for half an hour max, I’ve also learnt the hard way."

Eva defended herself and said she went out to the sea, which she thought the temperature would be cooler.

She said: "I didn't wear any sun cream, I went to the beach, literally for about an hour. There was a breeze, I didn't think it was going to be that bad, then went back to my camp because I was camping.

"I didn't think it was going to be that bad, then my face started to go bad and I realised I was burned.

"But I would not go out like this, in this stupid degree (38C) and not put sun cream on. I should have put it on but that was last week."
