I can't see my family as uncle abused me and brother married our cousin | The Sun10/06/2022
DEAR DEIDRE: I CAN’T go to family parties, weddings or birthdays because my brother married his cousin and her father – my uncle – abused me.
I’m a woman of 27 and I was 11 when my uncle would get into my bed. It carried on until I started my periods.
My family knew what I’d been through but they told me I had to “get on with it” and although my mother didn’t see her brother-in-law for over two years, she was still meeting her sister behind my back.
I thought I could put things behind me and move on.
But I threw up when my brother told me he was marrying our cousin.
