A mum has revealed the ‘game-changing’ method she uses to clean her kettle using nothing but lemons.

Dee has wowed hundreds with her before and after pictures of her kettle cleaning hack

To clean the interior of your kettle, begin by cutting up a lemon into about eight pieces and throwing them in the barrel.

Fill the kettle to its maximum level with water, then switch the kettle onto before emptying and rinsing the kettle several times to reveal its shine.

The lemon cleaning hack also worked on plastic, stainless steel, ceramic, electric and stove top kettles.

Dee also revealed that after cleaning her kettle with lemon, there was no lemony or acidic after-taste.

Another Aussie mum, Carolina McCauley from Perth, went viral earlier this year for sharing a video of another kettle cleaning hack.

To remove kettle stains she pored one cup of white vinegar and one cup of water into the appliance then allowed it to rest inside for 30 minutes before boiling.

To remove the stains, she poured one cup of white vinegar and one cup of water into the appliance then allowed it to rest inside for 30 minutes before boiling

The liquid was then poured out and the kettle was left looking sparkling clean from the inside out.

The spotted stains at the bottom of the kettle appear over time as a result of overuse and minimal cleaning.

The high acidity concentrate in vinegar is known to kill bacteria, mould and germs and also acts as a great natural cleaning product.

It is also safe to combine water with vinegar when cleaning as the two don’t form a chemical reaction.

After 48 hours the video was watched more than 135,000 times and many thanked Carolina for sharing her cleaning tip.

‘This works a treat!! I never looked in my kettle until I saw your hack and wow can’t believe how well it works,’ one woman wrote.
