IS your bank balance suffering from a bad bout of the post-Christmas blues?

Mine certainly is. After the big expense of the festive season, it can seem like a really long wait for the January pay day.

But I have a few tips to help make your money stretch further over the next couple of weeks.

And with most of us spending the cold winter evenings indoors, it is the perfect time to try these simple cash-making schemes.

Quiz in: Earn cash while watching TV by taking online surveys, which can pay between 50p and £5 a time.

You can do them from your computer or on your phone.

Good point: Do not forget all those reward points you built up doing the Christmas shopping.

Need to get out of the house for an evening?

Turn your Tesco Clubcard points into restaurant vouchers. Fifty pence in points can be exchanged for £1.50 in vouchers.

Work it: If you have seen a job advert in the window of a local shop, photograph it using the Job Spotter app to earn points.

It used to pay out in cash, but now you will get Amazon gift cards instead.

I put this towards basics such as toiletries, saving on my weekly shop.

Set up shop: Mystery shopping is when companies recruit people to test their customer service.

Sometimes you are given money to spend in store, but when I’ve done it, it’s always been a series of questions about where certain things are in the shop.

Websites proinsight.org and grassrootsmysteryshopping.com are my favourites.

You can also complete some jobs over the phone. Ideal for scrimping shopaholics.
