Did Barbra Streisand like Lady Gaga’s ‘A Star Is Born’?

Firstly, a little background. Streisand starred in the 1976 version of A Star Is Born while Gaga starred in the 2018 version. What did Streisand think of the more recent film? “I haven’t seen it completed,” she told The New York Times. “Bradley [Cooper] did show me the opening. I was surprised by how similar it was to my version. I loved how he used the drag bar. I thought that was new and interesting. What I’ve seen of the film I really liked.”

Streisand told E! News she gave Gaga some advice for her remake. “Yeah, a little bit, I told her to do it live, and she wanted to do it live, so that’s good because that’s the best way to do it,” Streisand said. “But their songs are different… it’s a good movie, it’s gonna be a hit.” She added “It starts like my old movie, with the concert and he goes to a club and finds her. But they were able to put some new things in it which I liked.”

Which version of the movie earned more money?

Streisand predicted the newest version of A Star Is Born would be a hit. Was she correct? According to Box Office Mojo, the movie earned $436 million against a budget of $36 million. How does this compare to Streisand’s version of the same story? Box Office Mojo reports that the film earned $80 million without specifying its budget.
