Michiel Huisman has been cast in one of the lead roles of the upcoming Apple action-thriller series “Echo 3,” Variety has learned.

Huisman joins recently announced cast member Luke Evans. Set in South America, “Echo 3″ follows Amber Chesborough, a brilliant young scientist, who is the emotional center of a small American family. When she goes missing along the Colombia-Venezuela border, her brother (Evans) and her husband, Prince (Huisman) — two men with deep military experience and complicated pasts — struggle to find her against the explosive backdrop of a secret war.

Huisman is known for playing Daario Naharis across three seasons of the megahit HBO series “Game of Thrones.” He also had a starring role in the popular Neflix series “The Flight Attendant” and recently starred in the Golden Globe-nominated HBO Max dramedy “The Flight Attendant.”

He is repped by UTA, Authentic Talent and Literary Management, Conway van Gelder Grant, Peikoff/Mahan, and Relevant.

“Echo 3” will be shot in both English and Spanish and has been given a 10-episode order. It is based on the Keshet Broadcasting series “When Heroes Fly” created by Omri Givon and inspired by the eponymous novel by Amir Gutfreund. Mark Boal created the series and will serve as executive producer and showrunner. The series will be produced Keshet Studios, with Keshet Studios’ Peter Traugott serving as executive producer alongside Boal, Jason Horwitch, Mark Sourian, Omri Givon, Eitan Mansuri, Jonathan Doweck, Avi Nir of Keshet Media Group, Alon Shtruzman of Keshet International, and Karni Ziv of Keshet Broadcasting. Pablo Trapero will direct.
