Gabrielle Union went through with the big chop.

The “L.A.’s Finest” star revealed a new short and curly hairstyle on Instagram Friday. Union’s decision to cut off all of her hair came after a few days of rocking a pin straight chin-length bob.

“So, I did a thing,” the 48-year-old actress wrote along with six photos of her new hair.

“The movies always show women cutting their hair when all is lost,” she added, “but I wanted to know the feeling of making a change when things are gravy.”

Union admitted that the cut would take some adjusting, as it felt “foreign” to her, but that she still loved her new look very much.

In September 2020, Union spoke about how her hairstyles have represented who she was.

“I’ve always been interested in my hair and understood how hairstyles have shown my personality and represent me to the world,” Union told Fashionista in an interview at the time. “I recall people always having an opinion on what my hair should and shouldn’t look like, from family to work environments.”

“I’ve gone through all the stages of hair that most Black women go through, including braids, relaxers, wigs and weaves,” she added. “Sometimes these styles put a strain on your actual strands so it’s important to care for your hair through any and all styles you might have.”

Union, who welcomed daughter Kaavia James in 2018 via surrogate, also revealed the negative side effects IVF treatments had on her hair.

“At that time, I felt anything but ‘flawless’,” she shared.
