Frugal woman turns carpet from dull brown to trendy grey by using £5 Wilko spray02/10/2020
A woman transformed her carpet for a fiver.
The savvy shopper picked up some £5 fabric dye from Wilko, which she sprayed onto her floor and left to dry.
Overnight, the cheap formula turned her brown carpet into a grey shade.
The lass revealed how she achieved such brilliant results in the DIY on a Budget Facebook group.
She wrote: “So this is what my Saturday night consisted of.
“I used Dylon fabric dye in Smoke Grey.”

The DIYer continued: “(Add) four tablespoons of the powder with 700ml of warm water and stir it well.
“Put in a spray bottle, spray it on carpet then rub in with your hands using gloves.
“I’d recommend more sprays on thick carpet as ours is thick.”
She also spoke about the Wilko product and its effectiveness.
The post adds: “I did it before we went to bed. This morning it’s dry.”
While the woman doesn’t think the spray could cover stains, she is chuffed with the results.
Her new carpet colour is much more on trend – as grey shades are loved by celebrities including cleaning guru Mrs Hinch.
Facebook users are equally approving of the transformation – with 6,200 of them liking the post in a matter of days.
One responder gushed: “Wow! Looks like a brand new carpet.”

Another said: ”This is amazing. I hate our carpet so great to know there’s a cheaper way rather than replacing it all.”
And a third added: “Omg I am so trying this… I got a second hand carpet for my hall and stairs so it won’t be too bad if it fails.”
If you are going to try the household hack, we’d recommend doing a patch test before spraying your whole carpet.
This should prevent you from having any DIY regrets.
