The Tuscan wine region of Val d’Orcia — a UNESCO heritage site nestled between the famed hills of Montalcino and Montepulciano that was given a DOC Italian wine designation in 2000 — is rife with soft sangiovese (the grape made famous by Chianti) as well as whites like trebbiano and malvasia.
