DECKING out the table to look fab for your festive feast adds a proper party feel.

And going that extra mile needn’t break the bank.

Here are a few ways to create a showstopping table on a budget this season . . . 

SET THE SCENE: A red tablecloth instantly gives a festive feel.

If you have white cloth napkins you can add a festive feel by loosely tying a piece of string around the middle and slipping a sprig of holly inside.

Cinching in a white napkin with a red ribbon is another low-cost way to add an elegant nod to Christmas.

STUNNING CENTREPIECE: A beautiful centrepiece gives the wow factor.

An easy hack is filling a big vase with baubles or ornaments.

This is also a great way to repurpose any broken decorations that can no longer hang on the tree.

Or look to your garden to create a big festive bouquet for the middle of the table.

Branches of holly or foliage with red berries are perfect for the job.

You could also add any seasonal greenery to Sainsbury’s Merry Christmas bouquet, £5, which features red chrysanthemums and carnations.

A WARM GLOW: A couple of candles on the table create a warm twinkle that will make your table look extra inviting.
