Everything You Need to Know About September's New York Fashion Week

After two virtual seasons due to the Covid 19 pandemic, New York Fashion Week is back. Of course, we assume it'll be just as magical as ever, full of celebrity front row sightings, fabulous street style, and Spring 2021 trends we'll want to try, ASAP. But, what else can we expect from the 91 (and more!) shows, presentations, and events that are planned?

When Is New York Fashion Week Taking Place?

The official fashion calendar is September 8th to 12th, with some designers showing on September 7th. You can view the official schedule here.

What Will New York Fashion Week Look Like This September?

After 18 months, fashion industry pros, influencers, and celebrities from all over the world will come together to celebrate and explore Spring/Summer 2022 collections. That means we can expect to see the Fashion Week street style we all know and love, with some restrictions regarding indoor events. Keep reading…

What Are the Health and Safety Measures in Place For Fashion Week?

The number of attendees at in-person shows and presentations has been reduced significantly. IMG will require proof of the COVID- 19 vaccine for anyone attending New York Fashion Week, in addition to models, makeup artists, hair stylists, and anyone else working backstage. Rather than carrying your vaccine card everywhere, many brands are asking to show proof of vaccination prior to the events, while the CLEAR App is offering the option to create a digital vaccine card. Attendees are also highly encouraged to wear masks indoors. IMG is prepared to enforce stricter measures if necessary, with the current spread of the Delta Variant.

Where Is New York Fashion Week?

Many designers will present their Spring/Summer 2022 collections at unique spaces around New York City, whether that means the Empire State Building or Gotham Hall. However, a handful of events will be taking place at Spring Studios.

Which Brands Are Showing During New York Fashion Week?

The official fashion calendar starts with Ulla Johnson and ends with Tom Ford, with many designers in between including Tanya Taylor, Veronica Beard, Coach, Carolina Herrera, Brandon Maxwell, Jonathan Simkhai, Staud, LaPointe, Tadashi Shoji, Proenza Schouler, Concept Korea, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Anna Sui, Jeremy Scott, Jason Wu, Rebecca Minkoff, alice + Olivia, Khaite, Vivienne Hu and Altuzarra amongst many others. Jeremy Scott will also make his New York Fashion Week return with Moschino.

Some well-known stores, such as DSW, and high-end fashion houses like Bvlgari will also be hosting events, where famous faces are bound to be in attendance.

Who Is Not Showing During September’s New York Fashion Week?

Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Pyer Moss, and Marc Jacobs are not showing this month.

Is Every Fashion Show in Person? 

While the majority of designers are showing in person again, some brands have opted to stay virtual this season including, Ulla Johnson, Maison Atia, Raisavanessa, and more.

Will You Be Able to Stream Fashion Shows Online? 

You can stream most shows on NYFW.com. Some designers will also livestream on their own social media accounts.
