If you’re looking for some of the best discounts under the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, look no further. Express.co.uk has collated some of the discounts you can get your hands on this month, which you can combine for a day’s worth of food for less than £5.

How does Eat Out to Help Out work?

Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced the Eat Out to Help Out scheme earlier this year, which is intended to help the UK hospitality industry recover from months of closures.

Until August 31, diners can get half price meals at restaurants up and down the UK.

The Eat Out to Help Out scheme will run on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday every week.

The discounts only apply when you eat in restaurants, and do not apply to takeaways.

The discounts are also capped at £10 per person.

But the number of times you can use the scheme is limitless, meaning you can visit as many restaurants as you like while the initiative is in place.

Thousands of businesses have already registered for the scheme, and if you want to find out what restaurants near you are signed up, the Government website now includes a postcode checker.

Breakfast discounts

Since lockdown measures began to be eased, there are plenty of places where you can grab breakfast now.

To delight of fans of the fast food chain, McDonalds is now offering many of its usual breakfast items once again.

A sausage and egg McMuffin meal, with a hash brown, usually costs £3.49, but it will cost £1.75 on Eat Out to Help Out days.

Morrison’s cafe prices are also down, with a regular full English breakfast costing £1.88 (normally £3.75).

If you eat at Costa Coffee, you can get a sausage bap for just £1.29, which is normally £2.95.

At the M&S Cafe you can get a teacake for 86p, or a bacon bun for £1.64.

Lunch and dinner discounts

McDonalds items for lunch and dinner have been slashed in half by the Eat Out to Help Out scheme.

You can get your hands on a Big Mac for £1.69, a Vegetable Deluxe for £1.69 or a Cheeseburger for just 49p.

KFC are also taking part in the scheme, with a Mini Fillet Burger costing just 75p on selected days.

A fillet burger meal is also down from £4.99 to £2.49, while a popcorn chicken meal costs just £2.15, down from £4.29.

If you’re looking for something spicy, at Nando’s you can get your hands on a quarter of a chicken for £1.85.

Beloved pub chain JD Wetherspoon will also be selling meals from as little as £2.

And if you fancy a trip to the M&S cafe, you can get a cheese and ham toastie for £1.97, or a jacket potato with tuna and sweetcorn for £2.30.
