EastEnders’ Balvinder Sopal’s incredible life off screen in stunning country home

Balvinder Sopal can currently be found lighting up screens as the villainous Suki Panesar in EastEnders.

The former theatre star has enjoyed an impressive TV career, having had roles in Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Hollyoaks before joining the BBC show.

The actress joined the soap in January 2020 and has since been involved in some dramatic storylines as the matriarch of the Panesar family.

The 42-year old's appearances on screen have left some viewers curious to learn more about her life off-screen.

When she's not filming on Albert Square, Balvinder can be found at home in the Kent countryside. Let's take a look.

Balvinder lives in the Kent countryside and commutes to the EastEnders studio in Elstree.

She has previously said: “I’m from Gillingham, just down the road from here. So I travel from Gillingham to Elstree. Unless I’m working early morning, which is a seven o’clock start, then I’ll stay over because I’m not attacking the M25 at five in the morning! EastEnders was never a dream, it kind of just happened."

Balvinder is also a keen activist and has lent her support to various charities including Refugee Action Network.

Speaking about her work for International Women's Day, the soap star tole Kent Live: “I think we need it because we’re still having conversations where women still don’t feel comfortable in certain spaces or feel that they’re being heard or seen.

"Speaking up and speaking about your own story is very important and we’re all equal and valued as human beings."

She added: “I think at times we just think about ourselves and I think if we can step outside of the boxes and labels, all these things that keep us apart from each other then we’ll learn to cross those borders and those boundaries and understand that we’re all here on this planet to achieve the same thing.”

Family is also incredibly important to Balvinder who has a sister who regularly features on her Instagram page.

Alongside the photo, Balvinder wrote a reminder to her followers to cherish the ones they love.

She shared: "Take care of yourselves and hold those you love, closely. Tell them every day – you love them."
