“Fire & Desire” isn’t just Drake’s hit song — it’s his new side hustle.
The Grammy-winning rapper, 34, is getting in on the scented candle game. He first began teasing his Better World Fragrance House brand back in June, sharing a photo of several navy blue votives adorned with handwritten gold script on his Instagram Stories.
“Available soon,” the superstar wrote at the time, tagging his new brand’s Instagram account — which currently only follows Drake and a Drake fan page.
He’s since gifted the candles to a number of his famous friends, among them Steph and Ayesha Curry, DJ Khaled, Kehlani and members of his favorite basketball team, the Toronto Raptors.
Set to become available to mere mortals this holiday season, according to retailer Revolve, Better World Fragrance House will launch with five different scents — the star of which looks to be Carby Musk, an $80 candle that “actually smells like Drake,” according to the product description.
Carby Musk: “Smooth musk fragrance is introspective as in an interpretation of your beautiful self, yet extrovertive as how you would want others to see your bold and brilliant self. Features notes of Musk, Ambers, Cashmere, Suede, and Velvet. Actually smells like Drake – it’s the personal fragrance he wears, which inspired BWFH.”
Sweeter Tings: “An addictive and nostalgic Oriental Gourmand fragrance with the subtleties of comfort and goodness. Features notes of Bergamot, Lemon Peel, Dark Voodoo Rose, Warm Cedarwood, and Soft Musks.”
Williamsburg Sleepover: “A genderless and luminous floral-woody musk fragrance that captures the essence of an urban garden under shaded lights. Features notes of Rose, Lily of the Valley, Vetiver, Amber, Musk, Patchouli, and Cedarwood.”
Good Thoughts: “A bouquet of rich florals surrounded by a vibrant bright light of freshness for a captivating positive energy. Features notes of Fresh Aldehydes, Bergamot Oil- Italy, Fir Balsam Oil – Canada, Ylang Ylang – Madagascar, Clove Buds, Pimento Berries – Jamaica, Sandalwood Oil Album – Australia, Patchouli Oil – Indonesia, and Sensual Musks.”
Muskoka: “Oriental Woody fragrance that emulates the smoldering warmth of burning woods, golden embers, and the feeling of being cozy by the fire. Features notes of Birch Tar, Fresh Clove Buds, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, and Smoked Leather Accord.”
Made from soy wax in (where else?) Canada, each candle even comes with a marker so you can personalize the jar. Drake partnered with perfumer Michael Carby of the fragrance house Givaudan — which has created scents for designers including Tom Ford, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs and more — to develop the line.
The “Toosie Slide” rapper is far from the only celebrity to start a candle brand; Gwyneth Paltrow made headlines with her “This Smells Like My Vagina” scent back in January, Kacey Musgraves partnered with Boy Smells on a “Slow Burn” candle and Alicia Keys is launching her Keys Soulcare line with a sage and oat milk candle.
