Do Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Relate to Americans More Than People Think?

Meghan Markle has been treated badly by the press from the very beginning of her relationship with Prince Harry. While it’s hard to pinpoint why Markle gets such rough treatment while other royal women such as Kate Middleton are held in such high regard is a bit of a mystery, it’s possible that the tables will start to turn now that Markle is a new mother.

Meghan Markle as well as her husband, Prince Harry, have been proving themselves to be more relatable than ever now that they have a new little bundle of joy, and all that comes with being parents.

The royal couple’s baseball game getaway

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their son, Archie Harrison, on May 8. Although the new parents have been keeping a relatively low profile since the baby’s birth, they have stepped out once or twice to make select appearances. They enjoyed their first couple’s day out recently, attending a baseball game in London. While at the game, they bonded with other attendants as well as the players, making new friends and admirers.

Reportedly, Prince Harry admitted to some other parents while at the game and said that he and Markle were recovering from a rough night of no sleep. Then, when the royal couple visited the players in the dugout, Red Sox pro Mookie Betts jokingly told Markle that their ancestors are from the same area of Alabama, making them distant relatives.

Markle got in on the fun, acknowledging the joke, and Betts felt comfortable enough with her to add, “we’re family somehow.” Prince Harry joined the fun moment and asked if anyone else wanted to claim to be related. Following their visit with the Red Sox baseball team, the couple stopped in to chat with the rival team, the Yankees and were gifted a baseball jersey for baby Archie from the team.

All in all, the trip seemed to not only be great fun for the new parents but provided people with a chance to see them as just regular people.

Prince Harry has a normal nickname for Markle

Even though the media seems determined to portray Markle as a demanding diva, the truth of the matter seems to be very far from that. Prince Harry even has a very normal nickname for his wife, which is a direct contrast to the image that the press tries to paint of her.

In early 2018, Prince Harry could be heard calling his then-fiance by the nickname, “Meg,” as he tries to get her to walk towards him at a crowded event. 

As for Markle, she has been known to refer to Prince Harry “my love,” an adorable sign that the two truly love each other. 

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry love Disney movies 

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might live on the other side of the pond, but their tastes in entertainment tend to American movies. At the WellChild Award event in late 2018, Prince Harry was asked by a child what his favorite Disney film is.

The redheaded royal and his new wife answered right away, listing off some of their favorite classic Disney movies – as it turns out, Prince Harry is a huge fan of The Lion King, while Markle loves The Little Mermaid. The couple also said that they both really enjoy Moana and Zootopia. 

Although it might take a while for the public perception of Meghan Markle to change significantly, little moments such as these can help to make critics realize that Markle is just a normal person, like everyone else – albeit living an extraordinary life.
