Did Lady Gaga Know That Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk Were Headed for a Breakup?
06/10/2019By now you’ve probably heard that Bradley Cooper and his longtime girlfriend Irina Shayk have gone their separate ways. The two were together for four years and share a child together.
Though celebrities break up all the time, the timing of this particular split is more than a bit questionable. Just a few months ago, people everywhere were commenting on how close Cooper and his A Star is Born costar Lady Gaga had become and wondering if there was more between the two of them than they let on.
And now, Cooper and Shayk, who had never had any public issues before, have decided to call it quits. Coincidence?
Did Lady Gaga know Shayk and Cooper were going to break up?
Cooper and Gaga spent a lot of time together while filming A Star is Born and while doing press for the film after it was released. During that time, the two grew close and reportedly talked about everything.
“Bradley has worn his heart on his sleeve through his relationship struggles and Gaga was there for him all along the way to listen and provide any advice she could give,” a source close to Cooper told HollywoodLife. “Bradley knows her as Stefani and they built that friendship through filming and they have had many talks because honestly they both have had relationships that have gone sour. They have experienced similar struggles.”
The source continued, saying that Cooper leaned on Gaga for support during the rough patch in his relationship.
“He put so much trust in Gaga and she has helped him quite a bit with many talks because they both have experienced similar parallels with their careers and again in the relationship department,” the source said. “Many think that this will lead to them being a thing but right now that is not the case. Bradley needs a friend and Gaga is really being that for him. She in no way was the reason for the breakup.”
What is the relationship between Gaga and Cooper?
From the first time Gaga and Cooper met, they both felt that they had a connection.
“From the moment we met, I felt a kindred spirit in him,” Gaga told TIME. “And as soon as I heard him sing, I stopped dead in my tracks. I knew he could play a rock star. Actually, he’s the only actor on the planet who could play this one.”
And since then, they have only grown closer.
“She knows everything about me — everything. There is not one thing she doesn’t know, and I believe the same for me,” Cooper told EW. “It’s just so funny how life works. It’s like, ‘So in five years you guys will be inseparably close.’”
For now, their relationship may just be friendly but there is clearly love there.
“The whole thing is that these two people found each other and it is a pure love,” Cooper once said of A Star is Born at the Toronto Film Festival. “And it is easier when you have somebody with you going down the road. And I had that with Stefani going down this road. I can’t imagine having the courage to do it without her.”
