What you’ve bean waiting for! Costa announce new loyalty scheme giving customers a free coffee for every eighth drink they buy

• Customers will receive a free drink for every eighth bought in store while those who use reusable cups will earn two Beans when purchasing drinks

Costa Coffee has introduced a new loyalty scheme which it claims will give its customers more free drinks than ever before 

The UK high-street favourite will see it’s current points scheme switched to ‘beans’ from the end of September.

From then, Costa Club members will receive one Bean for every barista crafted hot or cold drink of any size, purchased from a Costa Coffee store or a Costa Express machines.

Customers who use reusable cups will earn two Beans when purchasing their favourite handcrafted drink.

Once a Costa Club member has earned eight Beans, customers will receive a voucher for a free barista-crafted drink of any size to redeem at any Costa Coffee store nationwide. 

Not only that, but Costa Club members will also receive exclusive offers personalised to them on the updated scheme, including more ways to earn bonus beans throughout the year and a free treat from our sweet counter on your birthday.    

Previously, customers would get five points for every £1 sent. Points would then translate to 1p in credit of future drinks.

Points or previously earned benefits from existing customers in the changeover to the updated scheme. Any free drink rewards earned by points will be automatically converted to the equivalent value in Beans and current balances will also be transferred.

Those not a Costa Club member will need to register via the Costa Coffee mobile app, which is available to download for free on both iPhones and Android smartphones. 

A Costa Coffee spokesperson told FEMAIL: ‘Our Costa Club rewards scheme is one of the most competitive loyalty programmes in retail, but it’s vital that we grow and evolve our scheme to offer more rich rewards for our members – we ultimately wanted to thank our existing customers for their loyalty to Costa Coffee with the most generous scheme yet!

‘Not only will Costa Club members be competitively rewarded for the purchases they make, but using our Costa Club app, they can skip the queue or pay via contactless. We hope customers enjoy the updated scheme and collecting Beans – taking a well-earned break out of their busy days to enjoy a cup of their favourite Costa Coffee.’
