Loose Women panellist Carole McGiffin shocked viewers today by revealing she would vote for Donald Trump if she lived in the US.

Speaking from her London home, the commentator, 60, said liberals are ‘intolerant’ and can’t handle other people’s opinions  that she wouldn’t vote for Joe Biden because ‘he can’t remember his own name’.

The panel, including Denise Welch and Saira Khan, were discussing the furore caused on Twitter after Cheers actress Kirstie Alley, 69, yesterday tweeted: ‘I’m voting for Donald Trump because he’s NOT a politician.’

Loose Women panellist Carole McGiffin shocked viewers today by revealing she would vote for Donald Trump if she lived in the US. Speaking from her London home, the commentator, 60, said liberals are ‘intolerant’ and can’t handle other people’s opinions that she wouldn’t vote for Joe Biden because ‘he can’t remember his own name’

‘I voted for him 4 years ago for this reason and shall vote for him again for this reason.

‘He gets things done quickly and he will turn the economy around quickly. There you have it folks there you have it’.

The UK Celebrity Big Brother star, who is a high profile follower of Scientology, quickly faced backlash for her tweet. It has been shared more 78,000 times and liked 261,000 times and Alley’s name trended on the site on Sunday night.

Defending Alley’s decision, Carole said: ‘You’re not allowed to be a Trump supporter, especially if you’re involved in that kind of industry, in Hollywood.

‘It’s obvious that people were going to have a problem with her. These are suppose to be liberal people who tolerate other people’s opinions but most liberals can’t tolerate the fact that some people might vote for Trump.

‘It’s so typical, people should be able to vote for whoever they want to vote for.

Trump is pictured at a rally in Wisconsin on Saturday. The US president is overwhelmingly unpopular with the UK public with only 13 per cent of Brits saying they would like to see him re-elected

‘People threaten death to Donald Trump all the time because they think it’s okay because he’s Donald Trump, and it actually really annoys me.

‘I have to say, if I was in America now, rather than have someone who can barely remember their own name as President I probably would vote for Donald Trump.

After revealing she too would vote for Trump against Joe Biden, Carole was branded ‘hypocritical’ ‘ageist’ and was accused of ‘enabling racism’ by Twitter users.

The panel, including Denise Welch and Saira Khan, were discussing the furore caused on Twitter after Cheers actress Kirstie Alley , 69, yesterday tweeted: ‘I’m voting for Donald Trump because he’s NOT a politician.’

‘So Carol McGiffin just confirmed herself a Trump supporter and was ageist against Biden. #LooseWomen is SO hypocritical! Trump is guilty of everything they try and counter as a show and yet they have her on peddling BS for shock value. Just get rid,’ said one.

‘Carol McGiffin think it’s fine to support disgusting racists and would vote for Donald Trump if she lived in the US,’ wrote another.

‘Carol McGiffin saying live on tv that she’d happily vote for Trump. Not a good look. At all,’ commented a third.

‘Carol McGiffin just said she’d vote for Donald Trump on Loose Women so byeeeee,’ added one Twitter user.

Many in the studio also disagreed with Carole with Saira Khan (right)  arguing Alley wasn’t being trolled but people were sharing their opinion too

In Europe, Joe Biden is overwhelmingly more popular than Trump, with recent YouGov stats revealing 61 per cent of Brits would rather see the Democratic candidate win next months race.

Only 13 per cent of Brits opted for Trump over Biden, while the support for Barack Obama’s VP was even higher in Denmark, Germany, Spain, France and Sweden.

Many in the studio also disagreed with Carole with Saira arguing Alley wasn’t being trolled but people were sharing their opinion too.

‘She’s put it out there and people have an opinion and people have said they disagree with her.

‘If you defend your right and you put it out there, it’s not trolling to say we don’t agree with you,’ she added.

Denise (top right) also agreed that Alley wasn’t being trolled, and made reference to the fact both candidates were in their mid 70s adding she’d like to see a younger candidate

Denise also agreed that Alley wasn’t being trolled, and made reference to the fact both candidates were in their mid 70s.

‘I love to be challenged in the things I say, I’m not a Trump supporter at all, I wouldn’t vote for him, but it would be nice to see someone under the age of 125 as the main competition.

‘I don’t agree with Kirstie Alley on her politics or her religion, but I think she has the right to free speech. Free speech is slowly being eroded in this country,’ she added.

However, Carole stayed firm in her position, with her taking umbrage with the dozens of A-listers who added their support for Biden following Alley’s tweet.

Alley, who is a high profile follower of the Church of Scientology, quickly faced high profile backlash for her tweet. Alley’s name was soon trending on the site

Her views sparked a fierce reaction online from some, including director Judd Apatow, who tweeted: ‘Shelly Long was way funnier than you.’ Long starred alongside Alley in Cheers

Actress Patricia Arquette tweeted: ‘Well my vote for Biden canceled yours out. I have done my civic duty of the day.’

West Wing star Bradley Whitford added: ‘Exactly, @kirstiealley, @realDonaldTrump gets things done! Like the wall he built that Mexico paid for, the healthcare plan that he passed, the infrastructure plan, the way he neutralized the NK nuclear threat, and the way he released his taxes and kept us all safe! Great point!’

Thirtysomething actor Ken Olin said: ‘So, @kirstiealley joined others on the island of disgruntled former celebrities where Donald Trump is the king. Let them fly their freak flag. Who cares? Certainly not the public. It is what it is. If we vote, we win. Stay focused.’

Comedian Natasha Rothwell, a writer for Saturday Night Live, said: ‘Kirstie Alley’s tweet screamed “I can’t read! I don’t watch the news! Black Lives Don’t Matter! My body, your choice! and Pussies wear masks! And sexuality is a preference!”

‘But all I can think about is how 87% of the people on here will have to google who she is.’
