Succession star Caitlin FitzGerald, 39, says female fans of her Poldark star husband Aidan Turner, also 39, turn up outside their London home – while hinting she quit social media to avoid being a target of their online abuse

Aidan Turner’s wife has had to get used to the Poldark star’s legions of adoring female fans.

But actress Caitlin FitzGerald has hinted that she has been a victim of online abuse. She also revealed that some of his more ardent admirers even turn up at their London home.

Commenting on being the target of jealousy, the US actress – best known for playing Tabitha, the girlfriend of Roman Roy, in the first two series of TV drama Succession – said: ‘There was a bit at the beginning.

But I’m not on any social media – I don’t make myself available to it any more. Occasionally, someone comes to the house, which is a bit of a drag.’

Ms FitzGerald, 39, confirmed that she has filmed scenes for the fourth and final series of the HBO show, prompting theories that her character could be set for some sort of reunion with her billionaire ex-lover (played by Kieran Culkin, affectionately described by his co-star as an ‘absolute madman’) in the last episode tomorrow.

Ms FitzGerald told The Times she was ‘heartbroken’ not to be in season three, adding: ‘I’m really glad that I got to go back and just see everybody one last time.’

She and Dublin-born Turner, also 39, began dating in 2018 after filming the movie The Man Who Killed Hitler And Then The Bigfoot.

They were married in August 2020 at a ceremony in Italy later described by Turner as ‘tiny and beautiful’. He said: ‘It was very private, there was almost nobody there.

‘There were six people but no family and a couple of friends who were in Italy already, because it was right in the middle of lockdown.’

The couple have a one-year-old child, whose sex and name have not made public, and a terrier called Charlie.

Turner, a former apprentice electrician, is due to appear as St Andrew in the biblical film The Way Of The Wind, along with Mark Rylance and Ben Kingsley.

Ms FitzGerald is preparing for the West End transfer of Arthur Miller’s play The Crucible, in which she plays Elizabeth Proctor, whose husband John is dragged into the Salem witch trials in the late 17th century.
