Brits baffled after spotting sausage dog on top of local boozer’s roof

Thousands of Brits were left baffled after a Reddit poster spotted a sausage dog on the roof of his local boozer in Sheffield.

The anonymous poster uploaded a snap to the Casual UK forum and it quickly went viral with 31,600 people liking the post and over 600 commenting.

In the photo, the Three Merry Lads public house, on the western border of Sheffield, is pictures with a small dachshund stood proudly on the ridge of the roof.

Captioning the image the poster said: “On the morning countryside dog walk when I hear barking, couldn’t figure out where it was coming from until I look up.”

And, people quickly began joking about how the cute pooch managed to get up on the roof.

One person laughed: “That must be one of those ‘updogs’ I keep hearing about.”

“That dachshund is finally as tall as he feels,” another added.

And a third wrote: “I love the fact that daschunds don't understand that they are small.

“They honestly believe that they are big hunting dogs!”

A fourth added: “Sausage dogs never fail to make me laugh..”

And, a researcher theorised: “Looking at satellite imagery on Google Maps, there seems to be a large complex of extensions hidden behind the Georgian front, all with different heights.

“So there's probably a window it can just plod out of.”

Luckily, people managed to contact the pub to find out what was going on.

The landlord of the Three Merry Lads said: “This is Chester…he is our dog.

“He’s fine…thinks he is Spiderman.

“We live in the flat above pub and he likes to escape and have a look around.

“To be fair to him we do have some amazing views so get why he enjoys it!!”

And, rest assured, little Chester is perfectly safe and well – and has given a fair few people a laugh.

The Three Merry Lads is a 200 year old pub just on the edge of the Peak District and it serves a variety of cask ales and delicious food while being warmed by its three cosy log fires.
