Boris Johnson & Jeremy Corbyn’s ‘genuine frost’: Labour leader would ‘prefer to ignore’ PM

10/14/2019

Boris Johnson, 55, and Jeremy Corbyn, 70, sit on opposing sides of the political spectrum – and it seems there is no love lost between the duo. Seen walking out through Parliament today, the politicians did not appear to engage in conversation or even look at each other. What does their body language reveal about their relationship? Judi James, body language expert, has given her analysis exclusively to Express.co.uk.

With Boris and Corbyn though the frost does seem genuine, especially from the Labour leader

Judi said: “There’s normally an air of truce about these rituals, when we see ministers and party leaders dropping their facades of political animosity and giving us a glimpse of some of the cross-party friendships or rapport that exist behind the scenes.

“With Boris and Corbyn though the frost does seem genuine though, especially from the Labour leader who is walking rigidly and with his gaze fixed ahead to suggest he’d prefer to ignore the rather un-ignorable man by his side.

“While Boris clasps his hands behind his back in a donnish fashion and leans forward with an affable smile on his face, Corbyn adopts a more military, humourless air with his arms straight to his sides and his chin raised in what looks like an expression of superiority.”

The two men were attending the opening of Parliament by the Queen, who gave a speech, as requested by the Prime Minister.

The Queen outlned the Government’s legislative agenda in her speech. The package of 26 bills includes seven relating to crime and justice.

These include legislation to keep serious criminals in prison for longer, imposing tougher sentences on foreign offenders who return to the UK and provide better protection for victims of domestic abuse.

The Queen said: “New sentencing laws will see that the most serious offenders spend longer in custody to reflect better the severity of their crimes.”

A Sentencing Bill will change the automatic release point from halfway to two thirds for adult offenders serving sentences of four years or more for serious violence or sexual offences.

Other measures include strengthening environmental protections, reforming adult social care and improving the NHS, and raising living standards through increasing the national living wage to £10.50 an hour.

At the same time, ministers were said to preparing to rush through a bill to ratify any Brexit deal Mr Johnson is able to agree this week in Brussels in time for Britain to leave on the EU on October 31.

Joining Boris Johnson – although not sitting with him – was his girlfriend Carrie Symonds.

Carrie wrapped up warmly against the cold, wearing a black wool coat. She teamed this with a large headband which swept her blonde hair off her face.

A yellow, white and black tartan scarf could be seen tucked under her coat.

Carrie kept her makeup fresh, opting for pink lipstick and a sweep of blusher.

At one point, Carrie adjested her headband – showing off her perfect blush pink manicure.
