Asda May bank holiday opening times – what time do stores open on VE Day?

05/07/2020

ASDA shoppers who need to stock up on food ahead of the weekend will want to take note of the supermarket’s VE Day bank holiday hours.

Here's what you need to know about when stores will open.

VE Day falls on Friday, May 8, 2020 – this is also when Brits will get their early May bank holiday this year.

Usually, the early May bank holiday is on the first Monday of May.

But what does this mean for Asda shopping hours?

Most shops have already altered their opening hours due to the coronavirus crisis.

For example, there are no 24 hour shopping times in place – this is so staff can have extra time to clean stores throughout the night.

Asda opening hours for VE Day May bank holiday weekend

Asda confirmed to The Sun that stores will be closing earlier on VE Day (Friday, May 8).

Shops will then be open as usual for the rest of the weekend (Saturday, May 9, and Sunday, May 10).

Customers should use the online store finder to find the most up-to-date shop information.

Friday hours: Asda stores are usually open 8am until 10pm on Fridays.

But on VE Day, stores will be shut at 8pm – so two hours earlier than normal.

Saturday hours: Saturday hours are the same as Friday, meaning shops are typically open 8am until 10pm.

Asda has confirmed these hours will remain unchanged this Saturday.

Sunday hours: Asda stores usually open 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

These shopping times will still be in place this Sunday.

Asda has 341 shops in the UK.

Does Asda still have item restrictions in place?

ASDA has removed some limits on products, although shoppers should know that some restrictions are in place.

The supermarket no longer has limits in place on fruit and vegetables and chilled products.

However, Asda says there are still some restrictions in place on certain items – although its website doesn't contain a list of affected products.

Asda says on its website: "To ensure there is enough for everyone, we will occasionally place purchase limits on certain products that are in high demand."

Previously, Asda had restrictions in place on items such as toilet roll, nappies and hand sanitiser.

We've asked the supermarket what items are still restricted but we've yet to hear back.
