AMANDA PLATELL: King Charles should strip Prince Harry of his title if his self-righteous son turns on the Royal Family in his memoir

King Charles has already ‘read the riot act’ to his troublesome son Prince Harry, it is claimed, expressing in no uncertain terms that there will be ‘consequences’ if his autobiography Spare or his and Meghan’s reveal-all Netflix documentary harm the Royal Family.

Royal biographer Tom Bower says his sources tell him Charles ‘has made various threats to Meghan and Harry and warned them if they go ahead [attacking the royals] they will find themselves ostracised in a way they cannot believe’.

That could involve the most dramatic censure of all — removing all of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s royal titles, as well as those of their children Archie and Lilibet. Yes, the very titles they rely upon (especially in the U.S.) to peddle their grievances for millions.

Of course, if they cross the line, they should become royal exiles — a painful decision for King Charles, but necessary to preserve the monarchy. Charles has prepared for most of his adult life for this role. Can you imagine how angry he’d be to see his plans for a modern, streamlined, hard-working monarchy blown up by the Sussexes within months of him taking the throne?

The King will be particularly concerned that the book could be disparaging about Camilla. Harry believes she broke his mother Diana’s heart and she could be hit by his sense of self-righteous retribution.

There are rumours, too, that both William and Kate have targets on their backs.

Even since the Oprah Winfrey interview, Charles, Camilla, William and Kate have repeatedly extended olive branches to the Sussexes, most noticeably during the Queen’s funeral. The couple were included in the most important royal ceremonies and Harry stood watch over the Queens’ coffin in full military uniform, which he is no longer entitled to wear as a non-working royal.

Both were embraced by the Royal Family for all the world to see.

The Sussexes were safe while the Queen was alive. She had a soft spot for Harry. With Charles on the throne it is different, even though he loves his son. If Harry and Meghan go too far, I believe he will remove their titles and cast them out.

And I suspect that people across the country, sick of their petulant self-indulgent, money-making antics, would rejoice and cry: ‘Three cheers for The King!’

I Am loving the £1,200 drop earrings Kate Moss wore with a Saint Laurent dress in New York as I have an almost identical pair. The only difference is I bought mine for £20 in an Ibiza flea-market. I wonder if Kate’s leave her with green stains on her earlobes too?

Shame of the Police

My friend Barry, who applied to become a police constable in the push for thousands of new officers, now knows why he wasn’t accepted despite passing the strenuous physical, psychometric and written tests with flying colours.

A report reveals muggers, domestic abusers, flashers and even some with links to serious organised crime — or with a history of predatory behaviour — were accepted.

Barry didn’t realise you had a better chance of becoming a PC if you actually were a criminal.

How horrible that an effigy of Liz Truss will burn on Bonfire Night in Kent, complete with Larry the No 10 cat snuggling her leg! Some respect please for the moggy, now 15, who’s endured Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and now Sunak — and is more popular than all of them.

Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence says she lost herself to the hit trilogy, adding: ‘I felt more of a celebrity than an actor.’ Perhaps she’s still struggling to cope with how her $160million net worth stifles her thespian talent?

Amazon’s chief scientist Rohit Prasad envisions a world where Alexa will anticipate what we want to do, hear or even which holiday to choose. When I asked Alexa for ‘happy party music’ she played Bob Dylan’s Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door. On that basis I imagine she’d choose me a ticket to Kyiv — one way!

Don’t cha cha cheat us

Strictly’s Fleur East plays down the controversy after she and dance partner Vito were given a second chance in the Dance Off, having crashed to the floor in their first attempt.

Second chances for failed dancers? A Dance Off that’s not actually live as viewers thought? The most woke Strictly ever’s lost more than a million viewers — with this latest fiasco the glitter really is coming off the ball.

It’s Hancock’s family I pity

While Matt Hancock’s constituents feel abandoned as he joins I’m A Celebrity, my thoughts are with his ‘very private’ wife of 15 years Martha and their three children, the youngest just eight when he left Mum for his married mistress Gina Lollobrigida (or is that Coladangelo)? Weeks of coverage on social media will be torture for them.

The star of Netflix’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover Emma Corrin insists the sex scenes are not gratuitous but ‘totally justified in their (the actors’) experience’, whatever that means. How then does Corrin justify the six naked sex scenes in the two- minute trailer?

Meghan’s toe is out of this world!

At last something to love about Meghan. Like most women after years of wearing stilettos she has misshapen feet. More adorable still, her second toe is extra long — a little like ET’s second finger. ET, too, was cruelly deposited in a foreign land crying out to ‘go home’.

 James bites back at critics

Jewish director James Gray rejects criticism for casting Anthony Hopkins in his semi-autobiographical film Armageddon Time, and not a Jewish actor. No one criticises Nebraskan Marlon Brando for playing an Italian New Yorker in The Godfather, he says. No complaints either that in Lassie films, boy dogs played the girl.

Pictures of singer-songwriter Jennifer Lopez in full make-up wearing a black bra and lacy satin pyjamas during a ‘writing session’ put me to shame. I sit here during my ‘writing session’ in my lucky old leggings and faded M&S undies without make-up and hair in a ponytail.

And I’m not going to be sharing the image with my dear readers!

Migration watch

  • Home Secretary Suella Braverman was brave and right to call the arrival of tens of thousands of illegal immigrants an ‘invasion’. Imagine how the Leftie hug-a-migrant folk of Islington would feel if that number arrived in their area?
  • There is a possible solution to overcrowding in migrant holding centres. We built seven Nightingale hospitals during Covid, why can’t that same speed and expertise be used to build safe detention centres instead of farming people out across the country?
  • One reason a majority of people are outraged by the arrival of boat migrants is that they get housed in three-star hotels at a cost of £6million a day while one million Brits who’ve paid their dues are still on housing waiting lists.
  • A bad look for Suella to arrive at Manston holding facility in a Chinook helicopter so she could ‘view the coastline’. Such grandiose stunts didn’t work for Liz Truss.
