Cell phones are known for being breeding grounds for bacteria. Studies have shown that your cell phone is said to be 10 times dirtier than a toilet seat (we know — gross!). While there are devices like UV phone sanitizers on the market to kill most of the bacteria found on the phone’s surface, that’s just one extra step that some folks just aren’t willing to take.

Axing this extra step, Aeris Copper built the sanitation element into the most widely used phone accessory — cases — by creating the world’s first self-sanitizing phone case.

The brand uses copper to create its sleek cases as, according to its philosophy, “copper is inherently antibacterial.” Aeris Copper further added that the material is proven to kill a wide range of bacteria and viruses it comes into contact with when used.

The phone case, which stands as its official launch product, is available for iPhone models from the iPhone 6s to the most recent iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The inspiration behind the brand is quite inspiring and particularly relevant to the current world climate. In a press release sent to In The Know, the brand shared that two of its three founders contracted COVID-19 during their last semester in college. As a way to help the frontline workers who helped them following their diagnosis, they made it their mission to create a product that will significantly benefit those who need it most.

Pushing this public policy effort even further, Aeris Copper is donating a phone case to frontline healthcare workers for every case purchased. They have currently already donated cases to the Vanderbilt Medical Center, Lenox Hill Hospital, NorthShore University HealthSystem, UC San Diego Health and Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, to name a few.

In addition to the incredible ethos behind this brand, the cases are the real deal when it comes to phone protection and safety. One reviewer shared that her daughter, also a frontline worker, dropped her iPhone XS Max (housed in an Aeris Copper case) 25 feet from the bleachers to the ground covered in rocks.

“Not only did her phone survive, but there was also hardly a scratch to the case,” the reviewer explained. “I highly recommend this case not only for fighting viruses but also as an insurance policy for your phone.”

Also, extending its copper-centric technology to other areas of everyday life, Aeris Copper offers other products featuring its patent-pending copper alloy composite including a face mask, an AirPods case, a touch tool, a bottle, and a tumbler.
