Not only do peppermint, marigold, and lavender, act as one of the most humane ways to banish the birds, but they also add a touch of colour to any outdoor environment.
Experts at Hawkeye Bird Control confirm that the three bird-repellent plants create one of the most unwelcoming environments for the birds.
Smells are counted among the most effective deterrents against pigeons in particular because the birds are notoriously sensitive to odours.

The experts explained: “Plant bird-repellent plants like lavender, mint, or marigold around your property can help create an unwelcoming environment for pigeons.
“The strong scents these plants produce are generally disliked by birds, making them less likely to settle in the areas.”
Despite birds disliking the plants due to their pungent aromas, the calming properties of lavender and peppermint are frequently used in aromatherapy.
Marigolds are mainly used by gardeners to prevent insects from devouring edible, but they can stop different bird species from invading landscapes.
Pigeons, who typically enjoy plants in the cabbage family, will likely stay away from the food source if they find it bordered with marigold flowers, according to the Martha Stewart website.
To ensure the long-term effectiveness of the repellents, experts stress that it’s crucial to ensure a property is well-maintained and clean.
“Regularly cleaning up food waste and removing pigeon droppings can significantly reduce the chances of pigeons returning,” note the experts.
