Spoilers: Will John’s brain aneurysm be fatal in Home and Away?

John (Shane Withington) has been rushed into hospital after slurring his words, staggering and eventually collapsing at the Paratas’ hangi. Tori (Penny McNamee) comes to the conclusion that he’s having a brain aneurysm, and Marilyn (Emily Symons) is in pieces when she finds out.

Tori gives John some medication to help with the clot, and while it begins to help, he takes a turn for the worse in the morning when he begins to bleed from the nose. When Tori says that his condition could be caused by stress, Marilyn is convinced she is to blame.

Alf (Ray Meagher) is at Marilyn’s side to console her, but she is adamant that the state of their marriage and the fact John has been living in the caravan park has contributed to his health. She begins fussing over him and refuses to leave the hospital.

However, John does eventually wake up and become more lucid. While he initially accepts Marilyn’s involvement, it soon becomes clear he is uncomfortable with the fact she isn’t leaving his side.

He tells Alf that he wants Marilyn to be taken home, and that she shouldn’t come back – because he doesn’t want her to see him like this. Alf is incredulous, but John is insistent. Alf takes Marilyn back to his house, and when Marilyn asks if she can go back to the hospital, Alf is forced to tell her that her husband doesn’t want her there…
