Spoilers: John and Marilyn’s marriage on the rocks in Home and Away

The Parata family has been struggling since arriving in Summer Bay, and now they are without a home after being kicked out of their motel room for being unable to pay the bill. Forced to live in their car, Gemma (Bree Peters), Ari (Rob Kipa-Williams) and Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo) are struggling to get by.

Waking up in the vehicle, Nikau goes to find work, but Marilyn (Emily Symons) sees the family folding up their bedsheets and realises they’re sleeping rough. She goes to Gemma and suggests that they move in with her.

Gemma’s pride gets in the way of accepting Marilyn’s offer, but when she gets a call from her husband’s brother Tane (Ethan Browne) it becomes clear she isn’t OK. She has a change of heart and decides to accept Marilyn’s offer.

Marilyn is delighted to be able to help the Paratas, but John (Shane Withington) is far from happy when he comes home and sees the family spread out across the house. He asks why he wasn’t consulted, and Marilyn apologises, but says this is what’s happening.

When Marilyn explains they were living in their car, John is far from sympathetic, which upsets and angers Marilyn. Will the Paratas unknowingly drive a wedge in John and Marilyn’s marriage as she bends over backwards to help them against her husband’s wishes?
