Monty Don is known for sharing his gardening expertise on the small screen. Posting on social media, he has given an update from his own garden at his property.

Monty first shared his gardening knowledge in the 1980s when he wrote a selection of articles on the topic.

He began hosting a weekly gardening segment on ITV’s This Morning and has since landed his own television shows.

Monty has gathered a legion of fans as he has offered his favourite gardening tips.

The television favourite has also posted updates online from his garden at his own home.

Today, Monty headed to Twitter to give a glimpse at his garden, Longmeadow.

Speaking specifically of his cottage garden, he posted pictures of the recent changes.

Monty wrote: “The box hedges in the Cottage Garden are now all out and burnt (apart from big hedges flanking central path – the original box hedge I bought in 1993).”

The gardening expert posted two pictures to show he had removed many box hedges from the garden.

Fans shared their shock and admiration at the latest update from the garden.

One wrote: “What a change. I’m currently in love with pittosporum as a hedge. Looking forward to your update.”

Another added: “I like the way these evergreen trees stand out from the rest of the garden now.

“This is something I want to achieve in my own rose garden. Open but structured.”

One social media user commented: “Wow that has really opened the space up!”

Some Twitter users expressed their shock at the dramatic change in Monty’s garden.

“That’s quite a change Monty, and it’s great to see how quickly your garden is transforming from wetlands to a trickle of growth in such a seemingly short time,” a fourth fan added.

Another replied to the post, stating: “Wow… knew it was coming, but sad nevertheless.

“I’m certain the beds will appreciate the extra light and ventilation come summer. Looking good. Best wishes to you both.”

Monty has regularly posted updates of his gardens when he has made changes to them.

The cottage garden was originally dedicated to being a vegetable patch and remained one for 20 years.

The television personality later updated the garden to become a traditional and floral cottage garden.
