Jasmine discovers the truth about her father’s secret life in Home and Away

Jasmine (Sam Frost) has recently been left reeling after her half-brother, Xander (Luke Van Os), and his sister Rose (Kirsty Marillier) showed up in the Bay with news about their father’s inheritance – and a lot of painful information she wasn’t expecting to learn. After reluctantly agreeing to speak with Xander, the younger sibling she never knew she had reveals what his childhood was like.

He tells Jasmine that his mother met their father when she was pregnant with Rose, and they subsequently had Xander. The two siblings had a childhood filled with picture-perfect memories, where their father was present for every important memory in their lives. Although the pair were living separate lives in the city, they have come together to grieve his passing – and now they’re curious about why they never knew about Jasmine.

Although Xander wants to build a relationship with his new older sister, Jasmine can’t process the realization that her father chose Xander and Rose over his firstborn daughter and runs into Cash’s (Nicholas Cartwright) arms, full of sadness and rejection. She can’t understand why he couldn’t be a father to her and simply abandoned her at the school gates when she was six.

After living a childhood in the foster care system, Jasmine could never have imagined that she had a secret family living just a few hours away. To make matters worse, Xander is the spitting image of her father, which is even more painful. She unearths the only photo she has of herself with her father and talks about happy childhood memories she has with him.

Telling Cash about how her father would read her fairy tales and let her pretend to drive his car as she sat in his lap, neither of them can work out why he would suddenly disappear and choose to raise another family – only to deliberately have all of the siblings discover each other after his death by leaving each of them a portion of the inheritance in his will…
