Home and Away spoilers: Ryder and Raffy’s relationship hangs in the balance

Ryder (Lukas Radovich) has been focusing more on working shifts in the juice bar than his schoolwork lately, with Roo (Georgie Parker) putting pressure on him to complete his assignments so he can complete high school. However, she has recently conceded to let him take on a new job at Salt – as long as he balances the new responsibilities with his education.

After receiving his RSA, an excited Ryder goes to tell Mackenzie (Emily Weir) that he can officially start working for her. Mackenzie asks if he can start working tonight.

Meanwhile, John (Shane Withington) has shifted the juice bar roster around so Ryder can have some extra shifts – but Ryder declines, saying he can’t work tonight. Instead, he quits the juice bar and says he’s starting his new job at Salt, much to John’s shock.

During his first shift, Ryder finds himself having a blast, despite some playful teasing from John and a few tricks from Mason (Orpheus Pledger) and Willow (Sarah Roberts).

Raffy (Olivia Deeble) shows up to check in with her boyfriend and see how his first night is going, but a strangely worried Ryder warns her that she’s too young to be in the bar unaccompanied. Although Raffy says that John and Marilyn (Emily Symons) are just a few metres away, he ushers her out, leaving her feeling rejected.

The next day, Raffy is waiting at the Diner and feeling increasingly annoyed. Roo and Alf (Ray Meagher) are also in there, and Raffy asks if they know where Ryder is, as he’s half an hour late meeting her. They say that he was home pretty late last night after his shift, and he’s probably still sleeping.

Ryder eventually turns up, full of apologies and trying to remain awake – but it’s clear he’s exhausted from his first shift at Salt. Raffy tells him to go home and rest, as they can hang out later.

While Ryder is grateful that she’s being understanding, Raffy is secretly left feeling uneasy. How is Ryder’s new job going to affect their relationship?
